6wks pregnant and due to have wisdom tooth out under general anesthetic

i think i know what the answer is, but I've just found out I'm pregnant and I am due to have a wisdom tooth removed under general anesthetic next month - can I have a GA whilst pregnant? Obviously I don't want to harm the baby but I've been waiting two months already for the operation, the tooth is infected so I really do not think I can wait until after the baby is born in April. Has anyone else been in the same situation?

but it's driving me mad, i'll remove it myself with rusty scissors if it isn't removed shortly ...

No, I don't think so. I'd ring the dentist who is due to do the op and ask for advice particularly as it is infected.

the consultant didn't really give me an option. i think the roots are a bit odd. from what i've googled, consultants prefer removing under GA because they can be rougher!

Basically if it is necessary then I would wait another 2 months to be on the safe side

You have my sympathies though - I've had 3 taken out - I know how horrible they can by - although mine were all under local - I was pregnant at the time of one of them, but the dentist woman said it really needed to come out, she had a child herself so I trusted her IYKWIM?
