people don't actually terminate simply because of the 'wrong' sex do they?

blueteddy · 15/02/2005 11:54

Appapantley they sometimes do.
There was a thread once on MN, where someone was saying that a friendship had never been the same after a friend of hers terminated a healthy baby because it was a girl & she had wanted a boy
It should not be allowed.

I had 3 boys then a girl.

My friend had 4 boys

Personally I didn't mind what I had TBH. I would have been happy with another boy - my friend was delighted.

A little girl in ds's class has three older brothers. Her mother has just had another girl .

Had friends when we were little who had 5 boys (3 singletons and twins at the end!). really would have liked a little girl (and wanted another baby anyhow) so tried again and got their girl.............she grew up to be a complete tomboy LOL

Hi tommy1

I'm in a similar situation to you. We've got two sons and I'm expecting twins (being induced tomorrow, wish me luck!) I would love to have a girl but no way would I be disappointed with more boys. With DH in goal that's a 5 a side football team

Yes, women do terminate pgs post 20 weeks, I'm a nurse and I've done some agency shifts in the recovery unit in an abortion clinic in the past. Most of the 'late cases' are very sad, severe fetal abnormalities, rape cases and either very young girls who have been scared to tell mum and dad until late stages of pg or women who have gained weight, missed periods and assumed the menopause has started. I did encounter cases where the woman's first question when waking post op was to question the gender, a lot of women do ask this question but not usually straightaway. These women would not give gender as the reason for seeking an abortion but on reading the notes of sex and method of previous deliveries it would often show that they had all boys or all girls.
