Silly question, but what is the difference between a baby vest and a baby gro?

You will need both. A vest is, well, a vest. A babygro is an all-in-one sleepsuit (like pyjamas with the top and bottom sewn together and poppers down the front.

a vest doesn't have legs, can have short, long or no arms......baby gro has legs. You will need both for a november baby. Vest under the gro. Get to tesco and get yourself multipacks, usually in 7's one for every day of the week. But don't go mad, you will get millions as gifts.

You can also put a plain baby gro (sometimes called a sleepsuit ) under a pretty bodysuit (vest) makes a nice change in the day.

Pleasure Neeerly3 it is such a shame to put pretty bodysuits out of sight under plainish sleepsuits which often only have a small motif.

When it is cold i will layer by putting baby in a long sleeved bodysuit then the sleepsuit then the short sleeved pretty bodysuit with matching socks on the outside or plain socks inside the sleepsuit

2catsandonerabbit! I wondered for ages the answer to this question when pg first time round. Unfortunatly didn't have internet then so was stressing that I couldn't find 'vests' anywhere when the book said i needed them. My idea of vests then was the type my mum put me in when I was 5. Sleeveless tops now known as camis I think!!!

We bought ds some really fun babygros from Mothercare.

Some people don't use vests in the summer but we tend to use one all the year round - at 15 months and in summer we use tops and trousers/shorts and pyjamas more than babygros, but if it's too hot we just take off the top layers and he can run around/sleep just in the vest. I think with nappies it looks much nicer under trousers as well, not to see the top of a nappy coming way out over the top of his jeans.

Get layers - vests, babygrows, a cardi or two, an all in one winter suit thingy, a couple of hats. I had a winter baby (and am due again in November, too) and although it was freezing around that time of year, as soon you get indoors you'll need to strip a few layers off to avoid your baby over heating.

That's the pain of winter babies. You spend your life dressing and undressing them! .

Saying that it's better than to have a summer baby, my sister's son was born in June, a week after his birth there was a huge heatwave, temperature in his room was 28C, she was totally freaking out...

I think winter babies are the best! You can just snuggle them all day Also you don't need to worry about them overheating from the weather, if it's too cold it's easier to manage their temperature.

All you need are vests and babygros - it's not worth putting them in 'clothes' until 3 months + as you have to change them so often and poo can go everywhere! If you're not going to do what MatNanPlus suggests, just get plain white vests and then lovely sleepsuits to go over the top, plus a cardie and snowsuit, and a couple of hats - socks are useful as scratch mitts as are less likely to come off!
