maclarens techno pushchair - do they go completely flat?

relatives are kindly offering to buy one of these for us, but I want to know if they go completely flat or not? Are they really completely fine from birth?

they do go almost completly flat. not quite 180 degrees but they are the flattest lying stroller available.

i am a big advocate of babies lying flat, and hate to see babies in strollers that are unsitable. but the maclaren techno gets my vote as ok from birth. i would pad it out a bit with a sheepskin though.

They do go totally flat yes. I have one.

I second misdee- it's almost completely flat and the straps can be set at a lower position for a newborn

They are nice but I prefer my chicco for (4) me as it folds smaller and you can have it rear facing.

I know if I had an enormous house and staff I would, of course, have a silver cross Heritage special to leave in my capacious entrance hall near my Bernini statue. But I just don't have that much space!! (or money for that matter!!)

DS was quite a big baby but he didn't look comfortable in the maclaren xt until he was about 6 weeks old even with a sheepskin.

if u don want to spend loads on a pram if u dont thinjk you'd use it much beyond a couple of months then look on ebay for one

I do have a pram so am comparing my pram to the buggy which doesn't look as comfortable. You don't need a pram if you have a maclaren techno as they are suitable from birth.

I wish I hadn't bothered buying a pram.
Such a waste of money.

I'm very happy with techno. Wheels are bigger than a normal stroller, and it's a bit better than a normal stroller. A really good buggy. I like the 'window' in the hood so you can just lean forward and see if your child is asleep.

I have had a number of prams and I would have had one if I had had this one first.

My older one stands on the step on the back and she is very comfy leaning back against the handle. NOt in your way like a buggy board either.

You can get a soft cradle too if you want lovely for teeny ones

I had a Techno and DD went into it from birth. It's much more cosy than a regular Maclaren buggy and it does go completely flat. We had the cosy-toes thing and even though DD was born in October I never worried about her getting cold.

We just didn't have room for a bulky pram, and I couldn't face buying something that she would only be in for a few months.

< Techno was my fav until I got a chicco.

I have a techno and love it, lots of other mums who bought hefty travel systems are now asking themselves why they didn't just buy a techno to begin with. It's very light and easy to put up and down. The only downside is that I feel that I missed out on seeing him as it's not rear-facing. But you can't have everything!

Wish I'd bought a techno from the start...I got a bugaboo and ended up getting a techno when DD was 6 months and never use the bugaboo now.Techno sooo much easier and DD loves it. With a sheepskin she would have been fine from birth and I used the sling mostly when she was tiny anyway. If I could do it again I'd get a techno XLR...they are fantastic and more padded.

I think you could manage without a pram, I don't have a Techno but would like one for DC2 due in the New Year. If you decide that you should try and get a pram for a short space of time at the beginning, you could try your local Freecycle, and pass it on again as soon as you've finished with it. I appreciate space constraints though, as I don't want to be trying to get around with a double buggy when I've only got one child with me (I will briefly have 2 under 2).
