When did you first feel your baby move?

I could definitely feel DS move when I was 14 weeks which I know is fairly early but I guess this is because I am quite skinny. I've heard with subsequent pregnancies you may feel movment sooner and I'd be interested to know what the earliest is that you've felt your baby move (and known for definite it's not your digestive system!)

Ah babylove that is what I wanted to hear. I'm not quite 9 weeks and although I tried denying it at first I'm pretty certain I can feel something. That's then panicked me that I am much further along than I think I am and that I'll miss my nuchal scan and triple blood test windows!

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my first child. I felt the baby move at 12 weeks and felt kicks at 20 weeks.

houseofmirth... are you due in feb? join the february antenatal thread if you are.... we're all panicing and worrying so you'll be in good company

thehouseofmirth · 09/07/2008 16:37

PinkTulips I have been lurking there but didn't really want to "come out" until after my first scan. However, as I have a PhD in Advanced Worrying then maybe I should join in now!

Have just spoken to a midwife who was dismissive and suggested I should have a scan to check my dates. Don't see how I can be more than 9 weeks so perhaps I am hallucinating?

thehouse - dont worry, my midwife didnt believe me either! I felt what was almost like muscle spasms so i asumed they were exactly that but i got to 17 weeks and thought i was missing out so i rang a different midwife and said "why isnt it kicking" and she asked me what i felt and said "um, thats it!" well they still feel like that! Dont get me wrong, a 20 week baby gives me a good wallop every now and then and it is un-mistakable but i can feel him/her moving around quite happily!

MrsRigby · 10/07/2008 13:35

Thanks for that StarlightMcKenzie, considering I first felt the baby move at 12 weeks I hope theres nothing in that.

Iklboo · 10/07/2008 13:35

About 20 weeks - while watching 'Batman Begins' at the cinema

sderoz · 10/07/2008 13:36

18 weeks with ds, my first. I remember it so well, it was after a bath. I am now almost 11 weeks with number 2 and can't wait to feel those same movements!

zoejeanne · 10/07/2008 13:58

I'm 16+1 and think I'm feeling something today, but also not sure if it's because I heard the heartbeat (plus lots of moving noises) 2 days ago so I'm 'expecting' to feel something, if you know what I mean? It's seems early, as it's my first, but then there's some of you way ahead of me! It feels like a little pulse beating in my tum, and I felt it before and after lunch, so I don't think it can be what I ate. Is this what you're feeling?

More of a wriggly fluttering for me at 19+2 weeks

Fufulina · 10/07/2008 19:57

Am 19+4 and nothing yet! Not even the fluttering that everyone talks about!

iwouldgoouttonight · 11/07/2008 19:49

StarlightMcKenzie - I prove your theory right, I hardly felt DS move at all, I even had to be strapped to a monitor a couple of times at about 30 weeks as I'd gone for ages without feeling him. And my labour was quite easy. Although I think I didn't feel him much because he was head down in a good position from relatively early so that obviously often makes for an easier labour. Poor thing was probably wedged in and couldn't move!

Doozie · 12/07/2008 09:07

I'm 20+4 and I don't think I can honestly say I've felt a good kick yet, or really any other movement. Plenty of growing pains and muscle spasms and occasionally a tingling sensation. I?m looking out for the flutterings ? whatever they may be?! Can anyone describe it? I guess there is no mistaking a kick? I can feel their heart beat from time to time so that?s a relief.

EBenes · 12/07/2008 09:21

23rd week for the first one - and I've always been pretty thin, so am also not sure skinniness has much to do with it. This time, sometimes I think I feel things but am not sure, definitely nothing definite. Am 19 weeks.

phoebebouffet · 15/07/2008 00:18

I was at least 22 weeks before I felt anything not even a flutter, then it was only a flutter I don't think it was until 24 weeks till I felt anything 'real'. This thread has just made me wonder if there is any connection with feeling the baby move late and going overdue...as I did!

idontbelieveit · 15/07/2008 13:20

First one not until 18 weeks. This one i'm sure i've felt movement am 11 weeks.
My placenta was on the front the first time, am wondering if it's at the back this time. Will find out next thursday!

MrsMagpie · 15/07/2008 14:12

I'm 15+1 and convinced i'm feeling something in there. Sort of like a wobbly flutter??? Very hard to describe but i know its not just wind. Each time i feel them it's getting stronger.
