Hello ladies, first post in here, only joined a couple of weeks ago & have been lurking ever since!

I'm going through my first pregnancy at the moment, am in my 25th week with no problems as yet. I started to feel my baby move around 4 weeks ago, proper kicks anyway instead of just a fluttering!

Well just this week his movements have got noticably stronger, sometimes it feels like he's trying to escape out of my belly button! And these really stong kicks etc can be felt for around 45 mins before he rests again.

I know this may sound silly but I don't know much apart from the many books I am reading to brush up on what should and shouldn't be happening, and nowhere does it say too much movement is a bad thing.

Is there any point where I should be worried if the baby is moving too much or too ferouciously? I.e he might be stressed out?

Again really sorry for my silly post but I feel like an idiot asking my midwife!

Hi there and welcome. I'm 25 weeks along with my second one.

I've never heard of a baby moving too much - my midwife puts a lot of emphasis on getting checked if you don't feel your baby move all day - apparently distressed babies stop moving. Dd (now 20 months) was a live wire inside me - she seemed to be constantly on the move - and is a real live wire still: her speciality in the womb was thumping me in the bladder and stomach simultaneously, ouch. This one has more marked periods of activity and quiet.

Sounds normal to me - at least, my DS used to kick the c**p out of me before he was born (and yes, he's a bit of a live one now, at 7 months!).

How are you? Are you stressed (I ask that because you wondered in your post whether he might be stressed out)?

If so, or if the movements coincide with you being very stressed/anxious (which the baby may be responding to), then it may be worth getting it (and you) checked out. Like anything, if you're not sure, ask your mw - they really don't mind and they do always say it's better to get stuff checked out than not.

Good luck xx

Feeling movements depends on where the placenta is. If you are feeling a lot of movement, chances are the placenta is high up at the back which is great!

My babies have always been frolicking monkeys - a normal CTG for me shows at least 170 movements an hour. Which means the little blighters are constantly kicking around.

It's not a sign they are stressed out, it's actually indicative of where they are and also how sensitive your uterus and stomach muscles are. I had a very tight set of stomach muscles when I conceived this baby and so I feel every little wriggle and can also see parts of the baby sticking out in very identifiable ways (ie a foot, a shoulder, a gazebo - I swear he has a patio set in there)

Best thing is to throw the books away and stop worrying, your baby is doing fine

thanks for putting my mind at rest ladies!

I'm not stressed I was just worried about the baby being stressed, I suppose was taken aback by how much I can feel him! Am at the stage now that I can see my stomach move etc, and he does have a preference of stamping on my bladder!

Don't worry, you remind me of me when I was pregnant with dd1! She kicked loads, and very strongly.

She was strong when she was born, could sit up by 5months, walk (run actually) by 10 months and is still a live wire at age four!
