Hi All!

Can you offer me your best suggestions for disposable maternity pants that don’t cost the earth and are comfortable after a c-section.

Thanks ☺️

I wouldn’t bother. I just bought some lovely cotton massive pants from M&S that were a couple sizes too big. Far too uncomfortable already to be wearing disposable pants thank you!

Yes, I second this.
i got some fab big stretchy pants from M&S and just used disposable maternity pads in them.
I don’t think the weird material of the disposable pants would be very nice on your scar after the dressing comes off.
I didn’t have a lot of pain or anything in the area where the scar is but if felt weirdly numb and I couldn’t bear wearing anything restrictive for about a year afterwards. I wore my maternity leggings for way longer than I needed to because I found them most comfortable.

I bought big pants but cheap ones from Asda so they could go in the bin, I also found oh boxer shorts very comfy too! With both cs I didn’t find I bled too heavily so was able to wash and resuse pants with disposable pads!

I didn't like the disposable pants, I just wore maternity pants (from George at Asda, recommend!) with massive pads. Then after about a week switched to comfy high waisted seamless pants from Amazon, again with massive pads.

I used the Frida Mom ones and they were really comfortable.

Just buy a couole of packs of M&S big knickers in black. They can go through the wash a few times and noone will know.

I had an EMCS and sent DH to M+S- he understood the assignment, as they say these days, and came back with a packet of massive black pants that cane nearly up to my waist. Very comfortable. I kept them much longer than strictly necessary. Felt kind of affectionate towards those pants.

Thank you all. So the genuine consensus is big black pants from Asda! 😂
What are the recommendations for maternity pads? I want something comfy not itchy 😂

M&S full briefs are what you need, the cotton ones, actually they are so good I still wear them (new ones of course)! 14 years after my 2nd section

Hotwheelsletsrace · 10/08/2026 22:02

I got the massive m&s pants after recommendations on here. I still wear them now 3 years later 😂 so it was a worthwhile investment!

I had a pack of the Fridamommboy shorts and they’ll were really comfortable. My baby was readmitted to hospital for a few days at two days old and it was nice to not have to think about pants in that time. After that I moved onto the big pants, but I’m glad I had the disposables and I’d definitely buy again for another child.

Me too! I bought the M&S ones for after my first c section too and I now wear them everyday 5 years later. They’re so comfy!

I just used whatever brand Tesco had, think it was Always. Take some in your hospital bag, your hospital will likely provide them but they'll be be huge uncomfortable things.

Maternity pads- hospital gave me some, reassuringly massive, very plain. It was surprisingly difficult to get unscented ones back home though, I remember angrily staring at the small, empty space for the plain ones in about the 3rd chemist I'd tried and I wanted to start roaring, crying and flinging all the packets and packets and packets of different scented bullshit all over the shop floor. Get a good stash before you go.

Sheep85 · 11/08/2026 21:53

Booots maternity pads are good. Not scented and very absorbent and soft.
I had M&S black knickers
make sure you stock up on paracetamol and ibuprofen as not all hospitals give it out any more.
