Preeclampsia and placenta complications in my previous pregnancies

My husband and I have two beautiful daughters. Both from complicated pregnancies. My eldest I had preeclampsia, she was born via emergency c section. My second born , I didn’t contract preeclampsia thankfully but I did have issues with the placenta ( blood flow issues ) she was born via elective c section. Both born healthy , although my eldest was tiny , she quickly gained the weight.

We would love to try for one more, I’ve always felt very maternal , I love being pregnant , giving birth, and being the best mother I can be. My worry is that, because of the complications with my first two, how would a third pregnancy go? I have spoken to my GP who said it’s my choice , you can’t predict how the third pregnancy would go. I’d have extra monitoring for example scans ect to put my mind at rest.

As much as I’d love to have a third , my mind can’t help but worry given my previous complications. I have two beautiful children , who are happy and healthy. I feel like I’m being greedy wanting another , I’m in two minds.

I’ve had
DS 33 weeks spontaneously he was in NICU for around 10 days then a preterm baby to care for and all that comes with that
DD 37 weeks spontaneously had insulin required gestational diabetes she was born in very poor condition and needed lots of resus HDU and NICU care
DS oct 2025 35 weeks pprom and failed induction needed C-section. Had diabetes again and issues with growth and blood flow in the placenta- had weekly fetal
medicine scans, preterm clinics, awful migraines, insulin 4 times a day and endless monitoring weekly.

it’s very unknown and more so about how you can cope mentally with a possible complicated pregnancy. Pre eclampsia is more likely if you had before but not a given and same is with placental issue. All three of mine were different scenarios and issues.

you just have to come to terms with if you would be happy later in life not having had the 3rd. I would 100% not change having a 3rd Smile

How old are you ? How old are the children? In these situations (after two complicated births and two NICU stays (1 per child)) I decided it was better for me - mentally and physically not to have a 3rd but also for my kids- I didn’t want to risk anything happening to me - once again mentally or physically - that I could not be here for them them. When I was 36-40 it was a huge mental struggle my body wa desperate for a third but I had to fight it with logic. If I was you. I would not do it.
