Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

Can pregnancy symptoms really predict whether this baby is another boy?

Pregnant with my third child, I have two boys already and this pregnancy feels exactly the same. Does that mean it's definitely another boy? Or do some people experience the same pregnancy symptoms with different genders? All I seem to see if people saying "ohhhh with my girl I was vomiting every day, with my boy I was totally fine" etc but surely some people who have relatively symptom-free pregnancies just have that regardless of the gender?

we're delighted about this child regardless of gender, but just asking for fun! I'm 18 weeks only a fortnight to go before finding out - I'd love another little boy but equally a girl would be very special! But since I feel exactly the same and everyone says it's more likely to be another boy after the first two, I'm guessing it'll be three boys for us!

Absolutely no relevance.

No relevance at all.

Nope no relevance. I had boy & gir pregnancies that were exactly the same and also boy and girl pregnancies that were completely opposite (I have two of each)

My pregnancies were very different.

With my daughter, I was extremely nauseous and felt horrible until the second trimester. With my son, I had no symptoms like that and felt absolutely fine.

People say that girls “steal your beauty,” but in my case, it was the opposite. My hair and skin looked worse during my pregnancy with my son. I had pimples, which I never normally get because I have very dry skin. I felt like I had more of a “pregnancy glow” (if there is such a thing) with my daughter.

I also had a linea nigra with my daughter, but not with my son.

Totally random! I wasn’t sick with my daughter just felt nauseous, but sick as a dog in unexpected bursts with my son without nausea at all!

happydays312 · 05/07/2026 08:22

Nope mine were so different so I was convinced I was having a boy … dd2 soon appeared

LittlePetitePsychopath · 05/07/2026 08:28

Mine were very different. I felt absolutely fine with DS, no sickness, no tiredness, until the bump appeared there was no sign I was pregnant. I had a month of nausea with DD and felt a lot more tired and achy. I’m not sure I ever got a glow with her; either!

But I have friends who have the same gender and found their pregnancies totally different so I don’t think it’s a hard rule. Nub theory is probably the most accurate “guess” if you’ve got someone experienced doing it, that was right for all 18 babies in my NCT group, but it’s all guesses really until your scan/birth!

Mine were always the same, and I had a girl after two boys.

Iknowthatfeeling · 05/07/2026 08:37

I had a boy and a girl, and although my pregnancies were different I didn't have any clear boy/girl symptoms.
I was highly nauseous with my DD until around 22 weeks.
I was nauseous but actually sick more with my DS til around 14 weeks
I had intense craving for ice and sour things with both
I was far more tired with DS but I'm pretty sure that was down to already having a child and not having a lot of sleep at night in general

PinkOrchard · 05/07/2026 08:52

Mine were the same! Nausea started and finished at the same time, similar bumps/aches etc. Had a girl first time and currently 40 weeks pregnant with a boy! (Unless the 20 week scan was wrong 😂)
