Pregnancy of unknown location with slow rising hCG

I found out 19th June that I was pregnant (5+4 weeks). Wednesday 24th June I went to A&E with intense right sided pain which felt like ovulation pain and all around my back. They took some blood and scheduled me in for a early ultrasound.

My Hcg levels so far have been as followed.
24th June: 2400
26th June: 2600
28th June: 2900
1st July: 3900
3rd July: 5100

Thw ultrasound and transvaginal scan came back as a PUL - Pregnancy of Unknown Location. The sonographer 'thinks' there was a gestational sac but certainly no embryo or yolk sac. I was 6 weeks at my scan.

They've advised my hcg levels are not increasing at a rate they should every 48 hours. I'm rebooked for another scan this Monday coming where I will be 7 weeks.

I've been in an out of A&E pains, shoulder pain, brown watery discharge, I just don't feel like I'm being listened to or supported. They've given me strong pain relieve and advised it could be a long process!

has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Yes I have. I'm really sorry but I hope they've given you some material to read about what might be going on here. Obviously I don't know if this is what's going on in your case.

Hope they see something clearer on Monday. In the meantime, if you feel faint go straight to A&E and explain the full context on triage. Good luck.

So sorry you’re going through this.
Did the sonographer say they could see the gestational sac in your uterus? Or they weren’t sure?
If they’ve seen something in your uterus then it sounds like it will end in miscarriage but not be dangerous like an ectopic would be.

Thank you for your message. On the report they gave me, it reads 'within the endometrium towards the fundus is a 7x5x6mm fluid filled area. No yolk sac or fetal pole seen within'

Translation: they don't know, because it's really hard to tell at this point.

Try to find things to fill your time till Monday, so you don't just sit around worrying. Easier said than done!

If it is ectopic: it's unusual (but not impossible) for it to rupture this early.

Take care.

Hope you’ve got people looking after you.
I had this last year and my HCG continued rising but not doubling. In the end mine dropped naturally so I just dealt with it expectantly rather than needing surgery. Originally they couldn’t see the pregnancy but then later decided it was just at the end of one of my tubes.

I've got my husband and parents who have been brilliant. I had to let my work know as I've been signed off for 2 weeks by the consultant. Theyve been incredibly supportive too.
Just want clearer answers and how to move forward.

Glad you’ve got people around you for support.
Yeah It’s really unpleasant and it can go on for a long time until your HCG becomes low enough. Hope you’re not in any pain anymore.
