Polyhydramnios (mild) and irritable uterus. Positive stories?

35+ 2 and today I have been told I have Polyhydramnios but it’s mild. I have another scan in 14 days to look at levels. I’m being booked for a diabetes test and I have monitoring every few days to help with tracking movements,

They found it because I have been monitored for an irritated uterus / reduced movements so this must be the cause.

I am super anxious and under the pre natal mental health team who I will call tommorrow but tonight when the consultant told me that if my waters break I have to call 999 I sort of panicked, he said it was worst case and very rare to do with cord but it has thrown me into a frenzy and I stupidly googled and got myself scared. I also forgot to ask him if the irritated uterus contractions means my waters breaking is anymore likely.

I would love any positive stories or re assurance.

i am currently booked in for a section at 39
weeks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had polyhydraminos, my son was three days over his due date. It was due to the cord being wrapped around his neck but they didn’t discover it until he was born so ended up being an emergency c section. All was fine and went smoothly, he’s a strapping 13 year old now and we were back home in less than 24 hours.

well :)

I had polyhydraminos. I also had gestational diabetes. I was induced at 38 weeks due to both. It resulted in an emergency csection because my son had wrapped himself up in his cord. It all went very well and despite being an emergency csection I had an amazing experience. He’s now a happy and healthy 2 year old

Thank you so much for sharing! I have my diabetes test Friday. I had the last one at 28 weeks which was fine. I have also had a call today to say I am positive for group b strep which I know is unrelated but gosh my anxiety is not doing so well

I had polyhydramnios. Baby came 40+5. Cord twice around her neck which wasn’t detected until she was born. VBAC. I just got a taxi to the hospital when my waters broke. Hospital was in another city so the taxi was faster than getting an ambulance to drive out from the hospital then go back again. Everything was fine. There was a LOT of fluid though!

Thank you! Interestingly midwife I just spoke to also suggested it they did go driving here ( 15 mins away) would be much quicker than ambulance she said it’s more important to just get in

I had that too! I remember feeling very panicked about it and a bit like what next. But they will give you antibiotics during labour to prevent your baby getting it. And now they know about it they’ll be able to do all the relevant tests etc. pregnancy is hard especially when it feels like you keep getting told now you have this and this. It’s scary but it’ll all work out in the end and will be worth it when you have your baby

Thank you so much. It will be worth it but I’m so anxious it’s hard to imagine the baby at the end x

Had my repeat glucose test Friday to see if diabetes is causing it but man the braxton hicks and discomfort of my stomach is horrid.
