Oh ladies, I'm terrified have just found out I am pregnant again, this is definitely such a big surprise... not sure why I am posting this haven't told anyone yet. Am I too old? Can I do this again? 😆

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Congratulations! It must be a shock though. I had my second at 39 and all is lovely (he’s a teen now). How many have you got and how old are they?

MyPolitePeachSloth · 22/06/2026 17:10

I was 37 with my youngest, definitely felt older than the first time but it was absolutely fine. Had a lovely home birth too! Only trouble I had was feeling really tired in the last couple of weeks

I was 38 when I had my son. He’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Congratulations - you’ll be amazing.

I was 39 having my only. Pregnancy was a breeze, definitely didn’t feel old during the toddler years - in fact we did more than most of our mum/baby mates

I had a child at 38, my mother had one at 42 ….. if you want it and are in good health then it’s not a problem. It was my easiest birth, pregnancy not a problem either.

are you fit and well? If you’ve had other children were your pregnancies ok?

EmmaMcC8 · 22/06/2026 17:16

Thank you 💞 definitely in shock mine are 16 12 and 8. I'm terrified

If I could have my time again I’d have had four. It will be so lovely to involve the older children. How do you think they will react? If they are likely to be enthusiastic, the older two will be a great help I should think.

I had mine at 39 and 42 so don’t know any different. My partner has a daughter who is at uni now. While it’s a big gap, they have a lovely relationship with her. As regards feeling knackered and not coping physically - I think most new parents feel that way anyway, don’t they? You just get on with it - it’s fine. 40s isn’t exactly decrepit anyway. I have a heck of a lot more patience than I did in my 20s, that’s for sure.

Congratulations.

I was 30 in 1996 when I became pregnant with my 3rd child. I was a single mum with 2 young children & a mortgage. I was worried sick that I wouldn't cope & I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up my mortgage payments while on maternity leave. No extended maternity pay back then. My Son was born & he was delightful. My other two children were 7 & 9 & they loved him. I had to go back to work when he was 6 weeks old as my maternity pay ran out, but my lovely friend pitched in to help me with childcare.
I am forever grateful to her & eventhough it was hard work I would do it again if I had to.

Most of my friends are/were 38 + and pregnant and we are TTC baby no 3 at 38, so no not too old! Congratulations!

strugglingwithlife · 22/06/2026 17:46

I had my last at 38. Not too old at all

Thatcannotberight · 22/06/2026 17:48

I had my first at 37. 😂 .That's a normal age.

ChasingRainbow5 · 23/06/2026 12:03

I had my first at 39, you're definitely not too old 😊

(but of course it is your decision!)

Denim4ever · 23/06/2026 12:11

You will be fine. We are 50 mins from London and that's the average age of a first time mum.
