Genetic testing?

I had a TFMR in November due to a rare chromosomal abnormality confirmed with a CVS test.

I was told that if I became pregnant again I automatically qualify for genetic testing in pregnancy if I chose to do so.

Im very early so still have time to consider but has anyone been through this or any advice?

Im 38 next month and have read that as you get older there is a higher chance of chromosomal abnormalities with my eggs.

Myself and my husband had testing and it was confirmed it wasnt a genetic issue from us.

I think if there was no issue with my last pregnancy this wouldn't even be crossing my mind but with my age being a factor that i should do it.

If the genetic test showed the variant was de novo (random, not passed down from the parents), then the chances of a second child also having the variant are no higher than any other child.

That said, I would probably do the testing just for peace of mind and a more relaxing pregnancy. Why stress when you don’t need to?

The issue was a variant.

Thank you I think i will just for peace of mind.

Its recently come to light from my husband that he doesn't actually believe in the science from the testing which has caused some issues (hes religious, im not) however for myself Im pretty sure i will do it.
