Accidentally inhaled sink unblocker fumes at 8 weeks pregnant, should I worry?

8 weeks pregnant and my partner put mr muscle sink unblocker down the bathroom sink before we went to bed and was left. I didn't know this had been done.
Early in the morning I went to the loo and i was going to the wee and then I realised it i could smell it and knew what it was straight away. I was busting so tried to come to a stop as soon as. But I think I was in there inhaling for 30 seconds before i ran and shut the door. Has anyone else been around the same sort of exposure and everything ended up being ok with pregnancy?

This is fine, do you have health anxiety?

PersephoneParlormaid · 15/06/2026 16:36

You’ll be fine.

You are fine

I have experienced a lot of loss before. So I think i am over sensitive. I googled which I know is worst thing to do. And it says the fumes from sink ublocker are very toxic and to be avoided. So I am now just in a little panic that I may have done something to effect this pregnancy.

It won’t cross placenta at this stage.

I struggle with anxiety around this sort of thing too. 30 seconds isn't long at all. If you can't undo it, let it go :) and maybe tell your partner to lay off the chemicals while you're pregnant.

The things you can control are diet and rest. You do need to properly rest.
At home your husband can avoid chemicals going forwards.
The wider environment can't be managed. And that's the way it is. You will be outside in the same world all of us are and it's just that.
So sorry for your losses, take care.
