Pregnancy symptons - worried they are different 2nd time around

First time round I immediately felt really sick at the thought of coffee, vaguely nauseas and shattered. But this time round I feel fine - in fact I delayed taking a test because I was sure I wasn't pregnant.

What is worrying me is that the only similar experience I have heard of was my friend - who then had a mc (and the baby was known not to be forming "properly").

well your first time round is the same as my 2nd time round as my first time round i had no symptoms whatsoever..apart from being tired.

So 2 very different pgs

congrats btw!

I didn't have any nausea etc at all with my 1st 2 pregnancies.

SoupDragon · 23/06/2008 13:07

Both babies from those were fine btw.

I found everything came later with my 2nd pregnancy - I was worrying at 6 weeks that there was no nausea (whereas there was with DS) and then it kicked in with a vengeance at 7.

Last time I went off coffee. This time I still crave it but have gone off vegetables (much less useful!). Last time craved sweet stuff, this time salty.

Very different so far... but am only 17 weeks so who knows!

tinkhasabean · 23/06/2008 13:19

thay say that no two pregnancies are the same so i am sure all is well

Remember how much time you had to focus on your first pregnancy? Yep, it can be as simple as that. I was so bloody paranoid first time round every twinge, vomit, strange taste seemed phenomenol.

This time round, it's just 'weird pregnancy stuff' which is dealt with in between changing nappies and cleaning crayon off the walls.

Thanks ladies - you have put my mind at rest (for a while at least!). After 6 months of TTC worries I now have the worries of the first 12 weeks, and then the 20 week worries... and then...! Must retain focus on my gorgeous DS!

Actually, the first seven weeks are the most critical - once you have a heartbeat your risk of miscarriage plummets, the 12 week rule is now thought to be wrong. The 20 week worries - hey you made one good one, you can probably make another. However, you've probably blanked the last one, which is the fear of stillbirth in the last trimester. See it never bloody ends.

Take it a day at a time, you will be fine, the baby will be fine. Drink tea and sort socks often (I find this helps).

First two dss, sick, really hungry and dodgy nose, this and the last (dd) barely any symptoms apart from tiredness.

EffiePerine · 23/06/2008 14:30

symptoms MUCH less this time around - I was worried about a mc as well, but had a scan last week and all well

I think a lot of it is down to not having time to feel ill or tired with a toddler

also, are you still bfing? I suspect that some of the reduced symptoms (like morning sickness) are due to buffering hormones floating about.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 23/06/2008 14:39

not having time to feel ill- oh no. I had HG for 24 weeks with 1st DC, for 39 weeks with second! Not as ill this time. Sorting socks is a good one, I also find washing up quite theraputic as you don't need to bend down.. I think only somethign like 50% of pregnancies have yucky symptoms, so try to relax!

SydneyB · 23/06/2008 15:24

I can second all this. Felt utterly dreadful all the way through with DD. This time around at nearly 6 mths with no.2 feel way way better. Nowhere near as sick.

jaz2 · 23/06/2008 22:27

Sorting socks...good idea. And I work 3 days a week so that keeps my mind off things.

Oh hell, the worries of the last trimester - I never evn thought about those the last time round. How utterly devastating.

And having stopped worrying about different pregnancy symptoms earlier today, I am now worrying about not not being able to devote my life to DS. I am a serial worrier. No wonder DH threatens to clatter me!

i feel no symptoms at 8 weeks with pg no 2 too!
glad not only one

milkmoustache · 25/06/2008 21:39

Feeling much better with no. 2, my libido is alive and well this time to DH's surprise and delight, had Braxton Hicks for MONTHS last time but none at all so far and I am 32 weeks. But no nausea at all either time so really pleased that remained the same.
