Painful C-section scar at 10 weeks pregnant with second baby

10 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and my C-section scar has gradually been getting more painful - is there any advice on how to relieve it?

It started out as a sharp twinge if I was stretching, then it felt a bit crampy and today one side has been a stabbing pain that won’t go away and some mild stinging through the rest of it.

My daughter turns 2 next month so tried to give a reasonable healing time before conceiving again.

I’m dreading another 29+ weeks of it hurting like this!

Speak to your GP asap - it shouldn't be hurting like this.

Thanks for the advice, I can try and get an appointment. The midwife at booking said it was scar tissue stretching, I just didn’t expect it to be this sore.

Hi OP, so frustrating how the advice and care varies so much from trust to trust! At my booking appointment my midwife said any pain in my scar at all to go and get checked out. I’m sure stretching like you say but definitely ask to be checked for peace of mind x

Did you contact gp or maternity services to get it checked?

I’m a bit confused by the email the midwife sent after the appointment as it says to call the maternity line with any concerns such as abdominal pain but the next paragraph says to call the gp if you have concerns before 14 weeks.

I can’t email the midwife as it’s a no reply email.

I have my scan in 2 weeks so can ask then, but now I’ve got myself worried something is wrong.

@QuaintSheepi think it varies depending on where you are but before 20 weeks at my trust I had to be referred to MAU either via A&E or through GP so might be worth a GP appointment first? Some MAUs will accept walkins however so it does depend where you are. Hope you manage to get it sorted & are feeling ok this morning x
