Hello, im contemplating going a&e but im not sure is this classed as accident or emergency? Or will I be turned away.
Ive exhausted all other avenues.
Im 15 weekks, On Monday we had an incident while driving. The car in front abruptly stopped to pull in which caused us to slam on the brakes on main road. I was thrust forward and had some cramping but it stopped.
Then yesterday and today ive noticed a sudden drop in my usually uncontrolled gestational diabetes . Im just worried coild they be related if it affected placenta.
Im.not having any cramping now tho.

Ive contacted epau, fetal assessment.. all turned me away.told me ring gynae ward.. turned away. They basically had me chasing the other department . They told me gp needs to refer me but gp wont call me back, i was told would ring me back and now surgery wont even answer apparently closed for staff training.
Im just stressed and not sure where to turn to . What would you do in this situation.

A&E nurse here….sorry to hear this, I would be more than ok if you came to me to be seen, you’ve had a horrible accident, had abdo pain after it and even though it’s settled, I think it’s natural to want to be checked out. This stage of pregnancy is hard to know who to see etc, no A&E will think bad of you for attending, there may be long waits so take plenty of food and drink with you. Your A&E might have their own on site urgent care team who can see you, test your urine and refer you over to gynae x

A&E staff here, too, agreeing with everything above.

No-one gets turned away from A&E.

Here A&E would take you seriously and send you up to the relevant ward for checking.

Do you have a maternity assessment unit at your local hospital? The one near me never seems to turn away anyone looking for reassurance. I'm always shocked to hear of them turning women away when mine has always been amazing.

Thanks for your replies.
The gp eventually got back to me and gp wouldnt send a referral ( which would have meant i could have went straight upto gynae ward) she told me to go to a&e, which i did.
After a long 7 hours sitting there I was finally sent upto gynae and thankfully all appeared well with baby and heartbeat was good.
Ive been told to just monitor for any symptoms and I'll have a scan next month to check baby is growing well
