Could pressure from hard object on my stomach at 9 weeks harm the baby?

I am currently 9 weeks pregnant, I was lying down in bed kind of 45 degree angle so my stomach was almost entirely flat touching the bed. I didn’t realise there was a big hair clip between my stomach and the bed. I didn’t really feel any pain other than slight discomfort when it happened. Is it possible that kind of pressure reaches the baby?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Almost certainly not. Baby might not be 1 inch long and probably no bigger than a large grape. What do you think?

At this point your baby is really tucked down deep in your pelvis. I’m sure that it’s fine xxx

PurpleLovecats · 22/05/2026 23:04

It will be fine.

At that gestation, the baby is thoroughly protected, well down into your pelvis.

No you'll be fine, to be honest even much later in pregnancy it takes serious force like a major fall or car crash to affect the baby. ( I'm 23 weeks and have a two and four year old constantly climbing on me and bump) ....lying on a hair clip is not an issue

Larrythecatforpm · 23/05/2026 07:41

No, surely you studied biology in school?

KitKatPitPat · 23/05/2026 07:47

Honestly the baby is tucked in, fully protected by your other organs, abdominal wall of muscles, etc. There is no way that could hurt the baby. And I mean this kindly but sometimes hormones can affect your general anxiety levels, if it feels like you’re worrying about stuff more than normal it might be worth asking your midwife for advice.

The foetus is not in your stomach.

ThatMintMember · 23/05/2026 07:51

It'll be fine. They are still very low down (further down than the waistband of your trousers) so very well protected at this point still.

ShetlandishMum · 23/05/2026 07:52

This? No.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/05/2026 08:43

No, your baby is very tiny and bitter very deep into you. By comparison, I fell down a flight of concrete steps at 36 weeks, and the baby was fine then too!!
