Short cervix

Hello, wondering if anyone can tell me some positive stories of having a short cervix and having a cerclage suture procedure done please. I'm 23+3 pregnant and went for a cervical length examination 3 weeks ago. midwife was pleased said my cervix measured 29mm but just to be on safe side come back so I did on Monday & my cervix measurement was 20mm, a consultant came in & said Progesterone pessaries will not work as the issue with my cervix is trauma not my genetic make-up. I had a emcs at high dilation with my first born as he was in trouble. She has strongly recommended I have a stitch and I'm booked in for this Thursday. I keep reading horrible stories of women who have had this procedure but still went into labour at like 29 weeks. My son was in NICU at Birmingham Women's hospital & it was the worst time of my life then he was blue-lighted to Birmingham Children's hospital where they told us he could need ECMO machine. My fear now is going back to NICU & going through all that again 💔
Any advice or positivity would be greatly appreciated

I am guessing you have had the procedure now so I hope you're recovering okay. I had a stitch at 25 + 6 and my stitch out at 39 + 4 (when I had my c section now). I was signed off work for 4 weeks and took it easy for the rest of my pregnancy (before the complications, I was going to the gym and walking 10k steps a day). I was TERRIFIED of going into labour early. I only started to relax a little at 34 weeks (refused to do any baby shopping until then). Just take it day by day and see every day as another day your baby is able to grow and develop. My little girl is 2 now and she's healthy and on 75th percentile x

I had two early losses, including one that needed a D&C, then lost my next pregnancy at 19+3. I had unusual symptoms, which the hospital, community midwife and GP all told me to ignore because I was ‘being too anxious after previous losses’. Turns out, I have an irritable uterus and the mechanical activity slowly shortens my cervix too early.

I had a fight on my hands just to get a stitch next time and had to seek help from Tommy’s and a specialist in London, who agreed to do a stitch after watch and wait. The stitch went in at 18+6 and got me to 33+1 when baby was born due to PPROM from my uterus contracting 60+ times a day. My cervix was still closed and the stitch was doing its job.

My baby came home after 18 days in NICU. The alternative would have been choosing another tiny baby coffin, and let me tell you nothing in the world is more painful than that, as painful as NICU time is when you want a perfect birth.

Without the stitch, my second son wouldn’t be here. Yes, it’s very scary and unfair, but it’s so, so worth it. For what it’s worth, I was progesterone the whole time and it did absolutely nothing at all for me.
