Hi, this is my 2nd pregnancy. With DS I was induced a week over, my body reacted badly which ended in an EMCS
today’s my due date, I started with light contractions Monday night like medium period pains, these then stopped and the same happened Tuesday evening. Nothings weds or Thursday then 1am Friday morning I started with stronger contractions, 10 mins apart and this lasted all day until 10pm Friday evening, they got quite painful and were moving to around 1 min every 3-7 mins at points. Then nothing, they stopped and haven’t returned in the night! I’m going out of my mind I know this can happen but I thought things were ramping up! Has anyone else had this and how long did it last?

No, and if I’m being honest stop/start strong contractions often mean the baby is malpositioned, is there any way they can check?

I rang triage yesterday evening and they said that until it’s fully established labour they wouldn’t monitor, if the same starts again later I think I’ll ring them and ask. I know early labour can be stop start and for a long time but when they seemed to be ramping up and more regular/stronger I didn’t think they would just disappear again!

This happened to me and the baby was stuck. Just go and get checked

This happened with my first and third child, they were both back to back babies. Start-stop contractions for weeks and they actually ground to a halt when I was 7cm in hospital with my first, I ended up on the drip they use to induce until I gave birth. I knew with my third what the problem was with the pattern of start-stop labour and where the pain was, it was obvious they weren't in the correct position again.

Hopefully you've had your baby by now though!

She’s still firmly in there unfortunately 🥲 since Saturday there’s been minimal contractions, apart from a few last night. The midwife said it can be common for this to go on for days even weeks, it’s just so tiring being awake most nights then nothing coming from it!
I have a consultant and midwife appt tomorrow morning so I’ll ask them to check re position but I can clearly feel her back and bum against my stomach, would this be the case if she was back to back?

If you can feel her bum against your stomach then she isn't back to back, if she was back to back, her back would literally be back to back with yours and facing outwards. Are your contractions in your back or in your belly, the obvious sign for me was where the pain was, it was all in my back, whereas my one that wasn't I didn't really have pain in my back.

Hopefully it gets going for you soon, it is exhausting when you are kept awake all night, night after night and it amounts to nothing!

This happened with my second too - then all of a sudden started with proper strong contractions and she was born about 3h after that (completely straightforward delivery), just a warning not to wonder too far from home!

They’re mainly in my front not so much in my back at the moment so I think you’re right she doesn’t seem back to back she is obviously just taking her time 🤣

Thank you I’ve seen quite a few people say this! Hopefully running around after my 2 year old today will get things moving
