4+ ketones in urine . Is this an emergency

Had a urine dip today and viewed my results online it says ketones were 4+ . Im 13 weeks. At my 10 w app they were 1+.
My care team haven't reviewed the results yet.
I was feeling very thirsty during waiting for my app, my mouth was dry but im feeling fine now. I am a bit thirsty all the time tho but likely due to blood sugars.
I do have gestational diabetes, with a question if its gd or unconfirmed type 2 but for now I have to follow the gd pathway. Im starting on insulin tomorrow .

reading online it says i need to drop everything and go to a&e immediately or call an ambulance as theres a high risk to my baby of damage and fetal loss and it can make me severely ill , although im also reluctant to take the advice of Google AI as im apparently riddled with many conditions according to google so I was hoping someone who had a similar experience would offer me advice.
I plan on phoning midwives tomorrow for advice but in the meantime im wondering if someone whos had this can tell me what advice they were given .
Ive just eaten some bread and im drinking water. Other than feeling tired im feeling ok.
Is this something I need to go a&e for?
I really dont like the thought of sleeping in a corridor all night and I have a toddler at home that id have to arrange care for and its rather late at night to make arrangements. They didnt mention anything at my appointment today. Surely this is something they would have seen straight away in urine test? Or does it take hours to develop on a strip or something? Im not sure why they didnt say anything if its so urgent

Why don't you ring 111? They should be able to give you the best advice. Good luck.

I'm in NI as well, ring your local hospital assessment unit. They are very good and will be able to help. If you just Google for eg Royal maternity assessment unit, it will bring up the number or will be on the front of your green notes

@Beyondbeliefsometimes They've done with green notes this year as they've replaced with that ecompass digital system
Id spoke to out of hours , who didnt seem concerned as I wasnt showing symptoms such as vomiting but reading online it suggests they arent qualified for pregnancy related diabetes and edka can still occur even without vomiting so ive left a message with midwives and im awaiting a call back to double check with them that its not something that needs addressed as after doing alot of searching it seems most women with high ketones are admitted for ivf and insulin to flush the ketones immediately

4+ ketones in early pregnancy usually means your body's burning fat instead of glucose — could be low carb intake plus dehydration. Not an emergency on its own but please don't sit on it: text your midwife or triage today. Small frequent snacks with carbs (oatcakes + cheese, banana + peanut butter, crackers) and 3-4 pints of water can pull it down fast. If you're also vomiting, that flips it into possible hyperemesis territory and you'll want a proper review.
