Pregnant after recurrent early miscarriages, experiences with progesterone and aspirin?

Pregnant again after 3 early MCs. I have been prescribed progesterone which I am due to pick up from the chemist tomorrow and I have started a low dose of aspirin today. I just wanted to hear from others who have had similar experiences that led to successful pregnancies. When did you stop taking the progesterone and aspirin? Replies would be greatly appreciated! :)

Not the progesterone but I took aspirin right the way through both of my successful pregnancies. No issues and babies in arms at the end of it.

I had a MMC and MC before I fell pregnant for the third time while waiting for our appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I started a low dose of aspirin (75mg) at 5 weeks without speaking to doctor based on research I'd read. I then had two scans at EPU to check placement and viability and they proscribed me progesterone at 7 weeks (cyclogest) which I took until 16 weeks. Baby is now 3 months old :)

ive Not had progesterone but I took low dose aspirin. I had a mmc and mc before my 2nd child. I also did my own research on low does aspirin. I started taking it from about 5/6 weeks and stopped at 39 weeks just before my c section. Dd is 7 now

SheUsedToBeMine · 12/05/2026 21:08

I had 2 miscarriages before my DD - with her I took low dose aspirin (75mg) from ovulation until 12 weeks, and I was also prescribed progesterone 400mg twice a day. I did exactly the same with my DS. I then had another miscarriage (blighted ovum) after him whilst doing the same regime. Now pregnant with baby number 3 and got the 12 week scan this week... I've followed the same protocol this time too!

I'm taking both after three miscarriages and will be 28 weeks tomorrow 🤞.

@Pyjamatimenow thanks for your reply! I’m so glad you managed to have two successful pregnancies - how many weeks were you when you stopped taking the aspirin?

@WildFinch your story sounds very similar to mine, we are awaiting an appointment with the recurrent loss clinic and have only been seen by the gynaecologist last Wednesday! She referred us for all the testing and we’ve just found out about our pregnancy today! I’m so sorry for your losses but so happy to hear you had a positive outcome after. How many weeks were you when you stopped taking the aspirin?

@lupido so lovely to hear your positive outcome after going through losses! It really is so difficult and something that never fully leaves you. Thank you for sharing your story!

@SheUsedToBeMine thank you for sharing! I am sorry to hear about your losses. One of my MCs was also a blighted ovum, very difficult to wrap your head around! What made you stop at 12 weeks if you don’t mind me asking? Congrats on your pregnancy! Hope all goes well with the scan. Will you be taking the aspirin for longer this time? Or still stop at 12 weeks. I’m unsure how long to take it for

@bk1981 I’m so sorry for your losses, going through fertility struggles isn’t for the faint hearted!! Are you still taking progesterone now? When do you plan to stop aspirin? I’m so happy you’ve managed to have a successful pregnancy following this protocol, it really is giving me some well needed hope!

I took it right up to 39 weeks. Was advised it was quite safe. They prescribe aspirin in pregnancy quite routinely now

goodnightssleepbenice · 12/05/2026 22:05

I can’t remember about the aspirin but I had had 3 early miscarriages, less than 7 weeks . I took progesterone until about 30 weeks , was advised to take it anally instead of vaginally. My progesterone baby is 13 soon . Good luck x

Sunshine8011 · 12/05/2026 22:22

@goodnightssleepbenice sorry for your losses!! Very similar to mine it’s definitely an awful thing to go through. So happy you got your rainbow baby in the end! Thank you. I’m praying this one sticks xx

Crossing my fingers for you too , with mine it was like the egg and the sperm had no trouble meeting up but just didn’t get anywhere together . I did so much research and decided that progesterone was the answer , the consultant didn’t think it was but gave me a prescription anyway .

VioIetMoon · 12/05/2026 22:58

Didnt take aspirin , i was reluctant to as read conflicting information regarding it .
Ive had 6 pregnancies but only 1 child ( i was on progesterone with him as he was ivf) 3 of my mcs , one missed were all back to back, cycle after cycle .
I started progesterone this pregnancy at 6 weeks on advice from epau and im currently 13 w.
Sometimes I think if a pregnancy is not meant to be, progesterone wont save it unless the issue itself is low progesterone.
I was on progesterone during my missed miscarriage but still lost it. Most mcs are due to chromosomal issues.
I dont think itll do any harm tho.

feebeedeebeedoo · 12/05/2026 23:07

Following 3 miscarriages, I was prescribed prednisone, progesterone and low dose aspirin. I took them all through the first trimester and went on to have a full term baby who turns 11 this year.

WildFinch · 13/05/2026 05:50

@Sunshine8011 I turned 40 during my pregnancy so my consultant doubled my dose to 150mg which is standard if you're 40+ apparently. I stopped at around 36 weeks I think. They tell you to stop then so if you go into labour your risk of bleeding isn't increased.

BudgetBuster · 13/05/2026 07:23

@Sunshine8011 Sorry to hear about your losses.

I had 4 losses, all first trimester. I was put on progesterone next time i fell pregnant and I'm now cuddling my 2 year old. I am.also 35w pregnant and took progesterone and aspirin during this pregnancy.

Both prescriptions until 16 weeks.
