I am ecpecting baby number 3 (agirl after 2 boys). They have told me at the 20 week scan that I have a low lying placenta and is it doesnt move will need a c section at 38 weeks. They will do a scan at 36 weeks to confirm. Also they wrote on my notes that the scan was difficult due to habitus ( fat mother)! Any experience?

Hi ben. Snap with your girl after two boys. I also had a low-lying placenta and had to be scanned regularly. I think I had one at 32 weeks and the placenta had moved to be normal. Apparently it usually does move. However I can't remember them saying I'd have to have a section at 38 weeks if it hadn't moved.
Don't know anything about habitus either.

Congratulations on your pregnancy

Yes i had a low placenta, was booked for a scan at 34 weeks to see if it had moved but had a bleed at 32 weeks, another at 35 weeks and a section at 37 weeks. Apparently it's quite common to have a low placenta at 20 weeks and most will move out of the way in good time for the birth. If it doesn't a section is usually recommended, depending where exactly the placenta is, to avoid you bleeding badly during the birth.

Did you go pink mad? I am really pleased but ever so slightly freaked out about having a girl, just when I think I know all about little boys!

Yes I am ashamed to say I did go a bit pink mad, and am now living to regret it 3 years later. DD demands to wear pink, and talks about how she's pink pretty.. I'm trying to wean her off it all a bit. It's great having a girl, and two boys (a lovely combination in my biased opinion).
