8 week spotting before holiday tomorrow — would you still go?

I’m 8+3 with my 4th pregnancy and last night I had some light spotting for the first time ever in any pregnancy, so naturally I’m panicking a bit.

It was only a small amount on my pants (sorry TMI), nothing on tissue when wiping and nothing since last night. No cramps or pain either.

We’re supposed to be going to Centre Parcs tomorrow and there are so many moving parts — dog sitter booked, family visiting for a day, and it’s cost money we really can’t afford to lose. Part of me thinks we should just go and see how things are, especially as there’s been nothing since.

DH thinks I should get checked for reassurance, but honestly I’m terrified of hearing bad news and think that’s why I’m avoiding EPAC. I know that probably sounds silly.

Nobody knows we’re pregnant yet apart from us because we wanted to wait before telling people, so I feel quite alone with it all.

Would you still go? Has anyone had spotting at 8 weeks and everything was okay afterward

I had spotting at 6 weeks and was all fine. Essentially you can’t do anything about it, so I’d go. If you had to, you could go to a hospital local to where you’re staying. I’d be surprised if EPU would see you unless you have previous loss, and they don’t open at the weekend usually

If there’s no more blood and no pain then I think you’re fine to go

Go. It’s not like you’re going to the outer limits of the world.

I also had it at 6 weeks and all was fine. EPU saw me and did a scan. Get checked out if you need reassurance it did involve hanging around all day waiting. Good luck

Hi there I have had spotting at 7/8 weeks and even the next day I was slightly clotting with brown blood, I went to go get checked and they did a scan and everything was fine. They explained to me sometimes there is left over blood or it can be that your stretching and it causes a little bit of blood. Also if your not cramping or in any pain and it’s not heavy flow honestly I don’t think you have anything to be worried about.

I had the same but did go to EPU. All ok. Rested for the rest of the day, just in case, and then travelled the next. It’ll be on your mind anyway, so isn’t it better to know?

I had spotting/bleeding throughout my first trimester and all was okay. Conversely I had another pregnancy with no bleeding and it turned out I had a missed miscarriage (detected at 10 weeks).

It depends on if you will still be able to enjoy the trip with this hanging over you, I'd say. Going or not going won't change the outcome and if the worst is to happen, then there is nothing that can be done so it just comes down to what makes you feel most comfortable. EPU might see you but equally I get that you might be in a position where you would rather not know at this point. Obviously if you get pains do make sure to get seen in case of ectopic. Good luck, hope it all works out for you.
