I’m waiting for blood tests etc and whatever else to be done but I just so badly want a baby and it just isn’t happening, it was so easy 6/7 year ago when I had my daughter and now it’s just not happening, I’ve tried for over a year and I’ve had one pregnancy that I miscarried and now I’m just so worried I won’t be able to have more babies or if I do it’s gonna be fckin difficult 🥲🥲

I am sorry you're going through this and hopefully the blood tests will give you some clarity. In the meantime, have you heard of myo inositol? It is apparently very good for PCOS, and would be something you could try whilst waiting for test results etc.

I have not heard of that! I shall look into it, I didn’t even think I could get PCOS like so late on in 27 and I thought it was something that would have appeared like during high school etc so I’m just shocked tbh

I have PCOS and I swear blind inositol is the reason my second took only 5 months to conceive compared to the 3 years + eventually needing Clomid needed to conceive my first.

I will say that I was already on Metformin to regulate my periods while TTC both pregnancies. But with my second I went to buy some myo inositol from Holland and Barrett, and then things happened far quicker than anticipated.

Supposedly inositol and Metformin work in similar ways. But I think where the dose of Metformin I was on was regulating periods, I still wasn't ovulating. The addition of Inositol was what was needed to get the ol' ovaries to do their job.

I understand that Myo Inositol with D-chiro inositol (in a 40:1 ratio) is the best. I live abroad so no point in sharing the link with you of the one I used, but look for one that has D-chiro inositol too.

Are you able to track your periods, do you know that you are ovulating or when you're ovulating?

I also read "Getting Pregnant with PCOS" by Clare Goodwin and took every single step and supplement recommended in that book!

Same as PP I have PCOS and got there eventually. It probably hasn’t just appeared, you may have had it without realising. Keeping fingers crossed for you

I have PCOS and got pregnant twice but miscarried twice. I then needed clomid to get pregnant again and had 2 successful pregnancies that way.

I track my periods however they go from 3-5 weeks between periods so I just don’t know if I do ovulate, I used to have like little signs I was ovulating but since August I’ve had nothing like I don’t even bleed much either when I do have a period and my periods used to be soooo heavy

I'm pretty sure I had several cycles where I wasn't ovulating, and some of my cycles were crazy long. My first baby was conceived on day 37 of what was going to be something like a 54 day cycle. I tracked my morning temperature (BBT = basal body temperature), used the ovulation kits and kept an eye out for cervical mucus. I had been doing it for a while but nothing really clicked, it was only after I read the book and actually did it properly that I could track it. It also became easier to track as I was actually ovulating (perhaps thanks to diet/supplements and exercise). I definitely found the data made it easier to follow but it also took all the fun out of trying for a baby and it's a bigger mental load. But it was also not fun trying all month when I knew I wasn't ovulating in the first 30 days of my cycle! :(

Lots of info online about PCOS diet - lower carbs, wholefoods. I have PCOS and totally regulated my cycle when I was eating carefully.

Six months between periods very low chance of pregnancy. GP put me on clomid and first baby arrived 11 months later. The periods were also regular after that.

I was a year trying before I got pregnant. I went to a new gynaecologist after a year to get help (get bloods done and maybe start Clomid / Letrozole) and I was actually already pregnant but I didn't know it yet, but I had tried everything to get there.

I really recommend that book! It's a quick enough read and will help you understand your cycles better and kick start ovulation.
But I can say that even without knowing your root cause, some really simple steps can make a big difference:

  • Focus on protein/fibre at every meal, especially breakfast
  • Mind your daily sugar intake, and try to avoid "naked" carbs (carbs on their own - for example if you have to have chocolate, pair it with some nuts so the sugar release is slower)
  • Walk after dinner (or like a 15-20 minute walk after meals)
  • Take myo-inositol + d-chiro inositol (I took lots of other things too!)

You don't need to be losing loads of weight (a few lbs is enough to make a difference), overhauling your diet or going mad with exercise. It just helps to have tried all these things before you seek help so you can say "I've already tried X, can we please try Y...".

My endocrinologist said even losing 10-15% can make a difference - and I am sure that the PCOS diet I followed helped to keep blood sugar stable which in turn helped my body to ovulate. Good luck
