You poor thing.
When is your baby due?

My friend had this throughout her preganacy and it was awful to witness, I can't imagine what it was like to experience.
Have you had a look at:

I know my friend was much improved in her second pregnancy after seeking specialist help, is this an option for you?

You really do have my sympathies. I had an HG pregnancy last year and it was horrendous. My only advice is to keep taking each day at a time and remember that it will end. May sickness and nausea stopped within hours of my son being born. Have you spoken to your GP/midwife to get your physical symptoms under control? I found that with the right combination of meds to control (not stop!) the vomiting my mood naturally improved. Your GP/midwife should also be able to refer you for support for your low mood. I’d also recommend the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support. They provided me with excellent support. Take care.

Are you medicated? I am currently on my second HG pregnancy. My heart goes out to you. It’s debilitating and no one understands how bad it is until they go through it. I was medicated from 8 weeks with my first and 6 weeks with this one and even with the medication I have had so many days in both pregnancies where I felt like I couldn’t continue.

My first is nearly 3 now and I’m 13 weeks with his baby brother. I don’t ever intend on being pregnant again. It’s so extremely difficult, it will get better, I promise. I know it seems so far away now. I don’t know what to say because I struggle with it so much too and nothing makes it better until you feel slightly better one day.

I suffered with HG early in my pregnancy and the things that helped were firstly being firm with the GP about how I was affected and getting offered 2nd/3rd stage anti sickness medication. Secondly contact pregnancy sickness support - they are brilliant. I had a what’s app message with one of their workers who gave me lots of information to get me help but most importantly they actually listened when I had felt ignored in the past.
I hope if gets better soon. I had it for 20 weeks before I improved.

It’s awful isn’t it. It feels particularly unfair because you’re “meant” to be blooming!

Have a look at Pregnancy Sickness Support. They offer peer support and lots of advice.

I had it my first pregnancy. Wasn't offered any medication and didn't know to ask. Second pregnant I had anti sickness medication and that was life changing. Had to try a few to find one that worked, so don't give up if the first doesn't work.

I can completely understand how you feel. I’m currently pregnant with my first baby, severe HG. I’m 21 weeks now and still sick. Although medication can be really effective. I found my gp not very helpful, in the end I went to the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital and I have things that make it tolerable. Are you based in the uk? Pregnancy sickness support are helpful. I can completely empathise the feeling of it being overwhelming. Unless you’ve been through it, I don’t think people truely understand it.

I know this threads a bit old but I think I could be on the verge of HG, how did you go about getting it diagnosed by a GP and taken seriously?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling. It will really depend on your GP how much you’re likely to need to advocate for yourself.

My advice would be to be very clear about your symptoms - share with them how many times a day you’re being sick, how much of the day you feel nauseous for, how well you’re managing to keep water down to stay hydrated, how much food you’re managing to eat and the impact it’s having on your day to day life.

It’s likely they’ll prescribe anti sickness medication however it can be a trial and error to find the one that works for you so don’t be afraid to keep going back until you find the one that works for you.

I’d also clarify with the GP what the process is in your area if you feel you get to the point where you may need IV fluids for dehydration as this seems to vary area to area. Where I live it was a case that the GP could refer me directly into the MAC for IV fluids and IV anti-sickness drugs.

Keep taking each day at a time. Hope your appointment goes well. Take care.
