The dismissive comments here are what gaslighting looks like. People put over-faith in authorities and dismiss their own knowing. OP knows her body and has lots of first hand personal experience in her own body.

Sorry but what you are experiencing is wind or digestive changes. It’s not even a baby yet and is only just growing limbs.

It’s literally the size of a kidney bean behind the uterus wall. You are quite big for 8 weeks, but obviously this is your 5th and it depends on how long you’ve left it between pregnancies as it takes a long time for your uterus to shrink.

I asked my midwife this exact question during early pregnancy because I was very excited.

If it’s not a baby then what is it ? I was told when I miscarried at eight weeks it was just a blob of cells . That hurt like hell .

Not possible at 8 weeks.

That is correct. Although it may hurt to hear it, at this early point in a pregnancy it is cells forming to create a fetus at this point.

I sadly had to help a young lady having a miscarriage at 12 weeks pregnant and she passed the fetus. At this stage, it did look like an incredibly tiny baby, just about the size of my little finger. It was heartbreaking. At 12 weeks you can make out a baby on a scan.

I have two scans from both my pregnancy at 8 weeks from early pregnancy scans and they don’t look like look anything, yes you can clearly see the heart beating in the screen when the sonographer shows you but they aren’t developed into anything yet.

it might sound harsh and I respect that everyone has different views on calling this growing thing inside you a “baby” but I didn’t refer to mine as that until I could physically see on the screen the arms and legs and anatomy.

Twins?

VioIetMoon · 05/05/2026 10:22

Its likely bloating. Its very unlikely to be properly showing a baby bump at 8 weeks as its so tiny. Ive had a bump since around weel 10. I look like im a few months gone. I didnt really show with my first until the late 20 weeks
As for feeling flutters. I dont know if you can feel them that early either, although im 12 weeks and ive definitely felt occasional little movements. Ive never had a c section tho, so ive no idea if that can create that feeling. Ive read its rare but it depends how in tune you are with your body.
With my first pregnancy i felt some feelings around week 14 and then we felt him kick at 15 weeks which is early for a first apparently. . I say we as my partner could feel the little thuds from the outside which became more distinguished as time went on. The first time I didnt know what it was, the second time id just came off treadmill and lay down and felt these consecutive strong little boots

I had weird slight movement I felt when I was around 11 weeks with my last pregnancy. Only what was also odd was they were in two separate parts of my abdomen top left and bottom right. Cue 12 week scan and sure enough it was twins.

Hi I’m sorry if I come across rude but I know what I feel as I’ve got lots of first hand experience and I know my body to. And it’s not impossible to feel very early flutters has I have stated before I have also asked to because when I felt it I was shocked but was told yes you can feel little flutters at this stage with more than 2/3 can be unusual but not impossible thanks you
