Wow you’re getting some stick! It’s perfectly normal to have a gender preference. My sonographer at 8 weeks said she could tell it was a girl, I had a NIPT that confirmed and a gender scan today which also confirmed girl x

Is it normal to have a gender preference? I don't think so. The majority of parents just hope for a healthy mum and baby. Why would you have a gender preference? It can only be if you follow stereotypes. A sex is male or female. A gender is what is put onto a child before they are even born.
I have yet to hear of anyone who had a gender preference who isn't itching to treat their daughter like a doll or assume their son will be a "proper boy."

I wanted a girl as I’m so close to my mum. Most men I know don’t care too much about their parents. My daughter is in pink 90% of the time and is treated like a princess, I’m not ashamed!

No I don't suppose you are. 🙄 Why fight for equality for our daughter's when it's all about pink and princesses? I wanted better for my DD so I took a different approach. I know loads of men who are close to their families. What that's got to do with the sex of your baby though I don't know. Very random. 🤔

Yes but dads genes normally influence the gender and it’s all boys there side for the past 6 generations problem ?

You mean the baby's sex.
Babies don't have a gender identity.

I didn’t realise equality meant we have to dress all children gender neutral. I presume you’ve made sure to give your children unisex names. I am very capable and can do anything I want to, and I do it in a dress and heels, with make up and long hair - shock horror! In fact my daughter is at home with her dad in the day as he’s the SAHP, doesn’t mean I can’t buy her pink toys and put pretty bows in her hair. I don’t know why most men I know care less about their parents - but it seems to always be the case!

I’m assuming your DH is close to his parents?

My OB said girls can be boys because tiny penises can hide, whereas it's a lot less likely boys will be girls because that's a non existent penis emerging!

Being female isn’t just about the absence of a penis 😵‍💫

He would say he is but they’ve met my 1 year old maybe 6 times! My parents see my daughter multiple times a week. I’ve just always personally found that, on a whole, women are closer to their parents

Extending your experiences of how close men vs women are to their parents to the general population is a big reach.
It's dependent on many factors and is unlikely to have a bearing on your children unless you make it so.

I think the OB probably meant that it's easier to see a penis on a scan than a vagina. Clearly the way this was expressed was a bit odd.

My DS and his GF were told they were having a girl. He was a boy.

I think it's more common to make the mistake that way round than to say boy that turns out to be a girl.
