Slow rising hCG and early scan findings after embryo transfer

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some honest input as I’m in a really anxious waiting period. I had a day 6 PGT-A tested embryo transferred on 13th April, so my dates are accurate. My hCG started relatively high at around 4200, but then rose more slowly than expected to about 5300 after 48 hours and then around 5700 a few days later. I had a scan at 5 weeks 2 days which showed a gestational sac in the uterus measuring approximately 5 x 3 x 4 mm, but no yolk sac or fetal pole yet, and no signs of ectopic pregnancy. The clinic have called it an early intrauterine pregnancy of uncertain viability and want to rescan. I’m due another scan today (around 24 hours later), but I understand it may still be too early to see much change. Has anyone had a similar combination of slow rising hCG and no yolk sac at this stage and gone on to have a viable pregnancy, or does this usually point towards a non-viable outcome?

If your hcg was 4200 and then 5300 after 48 hrs , this indicates that its not increasing as it should. To have a further test a few days later with 5700 would concern me more. It should be steadily increasing in esrly pregnancy, doubling roughly every 48hrs. Your levels have basically plateued.
I had a very similar situation last year. I was told this wasnt a viable pregnancy by epau. The doctor who said me gave me some bullshit excuse that some babies just grow slower and re scan . I wish shed just be honest so I could have prepared , instead I was still investing hope so when I started bleeding it hit me hard.
I didnt bleed for 2 weeks after my levels starting slowing.
I dont want to alarm you but I also dont think its fair for someone to tell you itll be fine because the hcg levels are definitely concerning. My advice is to prepare for the worst .. but then again in rare cases, some women have experienced slow rising hcg and went on to have a baby but statistically the percentage is very low.
My miscarriage was also following ivf and its really not the outcome you want after investing so much emotion and money.

My hcg rose but not as much as they’d expect and sac was “empty” but high up so they were concerned it might be ectopic. Turned out for me it was identical twins. I hope you get the happy results you’re after.
