Extreme hunger and feeling shaky at six weeks pregnant

Hi ladies, I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I am so so so unbelievably hungry all the time, like I have a good breakfast, a fruit snack and then I’m absolutely starving. It comes on suddenly, I feel ok one minute and then I get a feeling of extreme hunger like I haven’t eaten for days, also feel a bit shakey. I didn’t have this extreme with my first, is this normal?

I was like this with my first, I was so hungry for a while. I would eat a big bowl of pasta and still be hungry. I would take a banana to bed so I could eat it when I woke up hungry in the early morning as i would feel ill if I didn't eat straight away. I remember just wanting to eat potatoes and chips, struggled to keep some meat down. Luckily it passed fairly quickly. I didn't actually put on any weight during my pregnancy, wish that happened with my second 😆

Normal! I had to have two breakfasts and two lunches to stave off the nausea and shivery feeling 😂 really packed in the protein too. Try eggs if you can stomach them, maybe with sourdough toast and avocado etc. Basically a bodybuilding diet. Try and avoid refined carbs and sugary foods if possible.
I also weirdly felt cold after big meals, can only assume my body was burning energy trying to digest food. I've got a slim frame so maybe that had something to do with it; my metabolism was probably working overtime.

I had to eat every hour or so in the first trimester, preferably beige carbs. I also used to wake up in the night at least once and need a snack. I miss those days in some ways!

Eat more protein and healthy fats. Make those the centre piece of your meal, eat those first and then your carbs. And reduce those a little. Youll feel better and fuller for longer

We are here and not judgemental @HonestKoala if you want to elaborate on what’s going on here.

It will be to do with blood sugar spikes an crashes..you might find in a few weeks when this happens you start to feel sick too so you need to eat to make the sickness go.

id try to have a big amount of protein/fibre if the thing you’re eating has sugar in (like fruit which has a lot of natural sugar) or is carb heavy (eg white bread).

eg don’t just have banana. Have a wheatabix, some milk and a banana.

cheese, apple and a wholewheat ryvita

i found I really had to have small mini meals instead of 3 square meals a day if that makes sense.
