Do private insurers ever cover C-sections if advised for medical reasons?

Yes some of them do. However it also depends on the policy size. If its a personal health care plan its less likely. If its a large business or a corportae more likely. You can check your policy terms and there should be information in there for c-section for medical reasons and when this is/isnt covered

@DuchessOfStuffitIt’s a corporate policy but c-sections never seem to be covered. They only cover acute issues arising from pregnancy. Am I missing a trick?

If anyone has any tips on this that would be really helpful.

Depends on the policy terms and conditions. For some corporate policies (which different providers will have different number of policy holders before its classed as corporate. May be 100+ may be 200+)

If you do have cover for c-sections it will say in your policy wording but i can absolutely assure you i worked in private medical insurance for years and i would see it covered when your part of a large corporate scheme and in circumstances such as serious impact to health of mum or baby to have a vaginal birth and so a c-section was medically necessary.

Some companies could opt out of the cover to save some money. Maybe your specific policy just doesnt offer it. Call your provider and ask them in what circumstances they would cover it. They may say "policies over x size, that have chosen the cover (if its not standard) and the following conditions" and youll know
