When is it worth getting earlier scan?

I am 18+3 pregnant with twins and am getting a little concerned as neither me or partner have never felt anything. I can sometimes feel what feels like a pulse but that might be my own blood vessels...

I think I was meant to get a scan at 16 weeks cos of twins but hospital messed up (my midwife didn't know it was twins when I went in 1 month after my scan)

Last scan was 10 March - next one is 6 May. Is there any advantage in trying to get an earlier scan? I have had little pains recently (very brief) nd also have overexerted myself physically.

I have a busy and stressful few weeks until 6th May so ideally makes more sense to wait until then because even if something is wrong, before this would not be a good time to find out.
Do I just wait it out? Or is there an advantage in knowing asap in case there is something that can be done? In which case i could call and try and get an earlier scan.

Any advice and thoughts much appreciated.

I just booked a private scan if I was worried as it saves you stressing and will hopefully put your mind at ease rather than worrying for the next few weeks! 18 weeks is still early to be feeling anything though especially if it’s your first baby or you have an anterior placenta

Thank you @FTMJul26! Good to know its not unusual to not feel much by now. I will investigate these scans but will probably wait on balance. Thanks for taking the time and assuming July 2026 is your due date from your name, wishing you a good birth and happy postpartum :)

I don't know the reason for the 16 week scan with twins. Google says it's only necessary for women whose twins share a placenta as it's to look for TTTS. However, Google may be wrong!

Just phone your midwife and ask if the scan is needed. Follow her advice.

And yes, 18 weeks without movement is not a sign of anything being wrong. All mine have been 19-20 weeks for the first tiny flutters (which I didn't recognise in my first pregnancy).
