Six days behind on every scan

My Baby is measuring 6 days behind on every scan. I'm 11 weeks but have has 3 scans to check heart rate due to some extra risks (1 private, 2 NHS) at 8, 9 and 11 weeks. Heart rate is fine, thank God! Though in every one the baby is 6 days behind where it should be. I ovulated CD16, which would explain 2 of the days, but then I tested positive 11DPO. So I couldn't have implanted very late. None of the medical staff are very concerned, but I feel like that's because they can't really tell at this stage, but it could be a problem? Other posts seem to have one scan behind then they catch up by next scan. But 3 in a row?

At 11 weeks, you really don't need to worry about this.

It's not an issue. Even when you know your date of conception (like IVF) they go off the dating scan.

How sure are you that you ovulated day 16? Could have had a slightly late ovulation (I think even positive ovulation test means ovulating within next 48 hours so would explain 4 days not 2).

Also scans are known to be up to a week out, and particularly if you and/or dad are on the shorter side you might just have a slightly smaller baby.

The fact its consistently 6 days behind is actually a very good sign as it means baby is growing proportionally for the length of time its been!

Because bodies and babies are funny old things and unpredictable.

I hope you are right. I am sure when I ovulated as i was tracking LH and BBT and also I get ovulation pain. So I felt it. This thread has reassured me a bit. It's just because its all different medical staff at each appt. So none of them would know it's a consistent thing and they are focused on heart.

Gently OP, there is absolutely nothing at all that can be done by you or the staff no matter what the scans show.
Dates, development, heart rate, growth, days or weeks in front or behind, there is nothing that can be offered.
While I understand you are nervous and anxious that all goes well and you get your healthy baby, you have zero control over any of it.

Can you just, for now, enjoy the fact that you are gloriously pregnant with every chance that all will be well instead of torturing yourself with this?

Pugglywuggly · 14/04/2026 18:50

Also bear in mind that a baby born anywhere between 37-42 weeks is considered on time. Six days makes no difference.

VioIetMoon · 14/04/2026 18:54

I wouldn't worry, the main thing is that baby is showing consistent growth.

Knowing when you think you ovulate doesnt really mean much as ovulation can take upto 3 days after lh surge and implantation times vary too. You've absolutely no way of knowing when you implanted.
I get ovulation pain too and ive been through fertility treatments having multiple scans tracking my ovulation and honestly the pains dont always correlate to releasing the egg. Sometimes id get the pain before , and on one scan I had pain but the corpus was already visible so id already ovulated so the pain cant be pinpointed to an exact time during ovulation. The corpus cyst can product pain too, not just an egg being released , thats common.

You need to wait for your official dating scan. Measurements early arent always accurate either as baby is so tiny.
If heart rate is fine and growth is steady , op your creating yourself unnecessary worry

Thankyou all for your reassurance. Popping back to say that at 12 week scan baby was 11w5days and my due date is exactly what I calculated from my ovulation. Incase anyone else is in the same position in future they might find this and be reassured.
