Snack suggestions for nausea

I have only been sick once but really struggling to eat with pregnancy nausea. I'm having to nibble at things constantly rsther than eat proper meals. Does anyone have any snack suggestions? My current range of snacks has become more difficult as I start to associate them with the nausea. I'm not really able to spend time preparing things as I feel sick when standing up too long. I'd love to hear what has worked for others.

Melon and salted pretzels for me when nauseous.
nuts for protein and good fat.

pastabest · 12/04/2026 11:28

I lived on granny smith apples and dry cream crackers for weeks

Iloveeverycat · 12/04/2026 11:40

Have you tried ginger biscuits for the nausea.

Lomonald · 12/04/2026 11:41

Not the healthiest but I ate wotsits and wheat crackers when my nausea was at its peak.

Have you tried ginger biscuits for the nausea.

I lived on them for nearly a month at the beginning of my pregnancy.

NewIssueNewName · 12/04/2026 11:44

Twiglets and pom bears.

CocoaTea · 12/04/2026 11:44

Ginger capsules

Satsumas or other citrus fruit

Small sips of drinks

Salted crisps

Split your pre-natal vits ie buy all the separate components and take them in smaller combinations OR take them before bed so you sleep on them.

Loads of water.

Oh and melon so that was healthier.

Any kind of boiled sweet. I had one in my mouth constantly during the first trimester of my first pregnancy. I was still horrifically ill, but it was the one thing that helped, even if only slightly.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 12/04/2026 11:47

Granny Smith apples, and salt & vinegar crisps both cut through the horrible taste in my mouth and settled my stomach.

Raisins literally forced down one at a time helped me feel better as they gave me a blood sugar boost.

Pregnacare vitamins made me vomit awfully, but seven seas pregnancy vitamins were fine

ainsleysanob · 12/04/2026 11:51

Only thing that did for me was Quavers and Robinsons lemon barley cordial!

JessLou80 · 12/04/2026 11:51

Congratulations on your pregnancy - crystallised ginger to suck for the nausea helped me and ready salted hoola hoops really helped too

Oh yes I second this, I didn't take it with my 3rd pregnancy and felt much better. I took vit D Vit C and folic acid separately instead.

I lived off Sour Blue Raspberry Sweets, McDonalds French Fries, TUC Crackers, Scrambled Egg, Plain Chicken, Rich Tea Biscuits, and Ready Salted Crisps.

Not the healthiest diet, but at least I was able to eat something 🤷🏻‍♀️ anything else made me violently sick 😭

Crystallllll · 12/04/2026 12:22

I could only tolerate crisps, sausage rolls and tomato soup. Hideous. It will pass eventually.

This. And then when I was sick it didn't taste so bad. Sorry, TMI.

I couldn't eat oranges at all and still avoid them over 40 years later. Euuugh!

I read recently that increasing protein intake can help with nausea during pregnancy, especially for the evening meal.

MrsW9 · 12/04/2026 12:53

Lots of suggestions - thank you all so much! I will probably be trying pretty much all these things...

I have tried ginger tea, which has helped a tiny bit with the nausea but ginger biscuits are a great idea to get some food in as well.

Yes I read the same. And vitamin B6, which I took - hard to say if it helped but I checked the safe dosages so it wasn’t doing any harm.

Not much help if you just can't keep anything down.

Of course. But if/when you can, evidence suggests that protein helps. I was on cyclizine the whole way through my pregnancies, but I did try to eat more protein if I felt I could. Often this was just nibbling on totally plain chicken. There were a few days where I could stomach hard boiled eggs, but then one day it was like a switch flipped and the very thought of them was revolting!

user2848502016 · 12/04/2026 13:31

It was anything plain and dry for me - crackers, rich tea biscuits, breadsticks, ginger biscuits, ready salted crisps
Worry about nutrition when your nausea improves

jackstini · 12/04/2026 13:54

Agree ginger biscuits were great
A drop of peppermint oil in hot water
Cooked pasta
Celery sticks

Sleepymum171288 · 13/04/2026 21:13

Ginger biscuits, frozen fruits like grapes and mango, ice lollies. I lived off of those mainly during my first pregnancy
