Trying to conceive after loss and recent hormone issues

Hi,

Really just looking for reassurance or anyone who may have been in a similar boat.

We lost our little girl at 16 weeks pregnant in October 2023. It took a huge amount out of us. We did not try for months. Then we tried on and off for months and nothing was happening.

In March last year, I was diagnosed with a prolactinoma. I was and still am being medicated. The levels of prolactin then became too low, when I was checked in September, my dose was reduced and it then stabilised.

I was then diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I was and still am being treated for that. By Christmas my levels in that had stabilised.

We have now been trying the last 2 months, since everything stabilised. But my luteal phase has been short, spotting day 8/9, period day 12/13. My progesterone came in slightly below normal.

Only this month has my progesterone balanced. Spotting on day 12/13 only and period day 13/14, so ideal really. I know that one of the conditions above alone could cause infertility, not to mind three of them. But in my head we are trying for two years, even though realistically I know, I am only trying one month, with it all balanced. First time round, I was pregnant in 4 months, so this makes this all the harder.

I am 37 and I was only 34 when this journey started. I wish we started trying earlier, I really had no idea what lay ahead. We want 2-3 children and I am afraid I am running out of time.

Both my husband and I have had tests and all is well fertility wise. I have been offered a trigger injection along with natural conception and a hycosy procedure, if nothing happens in the coming months. I have put it off, as I do not know how I will cope if it does not work. I also want to give trying naturally a chance, now that everything is balanced.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and had their rainbow baby, when their hormones were balanced?

Thanks for reading.

So sorry for your loss and troubles, I’ve had similar though not been on medications for low progesterone. I did some research and I tried agnus castus, do your own research and see if you think this may help you. It’s also known as Vitex and some pre-pregnancy vitamins contain it, well they did when I was where you are. I now have 2 children born at 37 and 40, where I live this is not uncommon, so try not to let that sneak in as a stress - good luck!

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I have a prolactinoma and also endometriosis, I was on cabergoline and had two surgeries for the endo, mainly for symptom relief rather than fertility, although my consultant did say that if I wanted children, it would be best to try within a year of surgery. We didn’t actually start trying until two years later, but to both mine and my husband’s surprise, we got pregnant in the second month. I carried to term and now have a nearly three year old.
We’ve been trying for a second since September last year. I did get pregnant in December, but sadly miscarried at 10 weeks.

i wasn’t on cabergoline when we conceived either time as my prolactin has stabilised.
I’m not sure if this is helpful at all, but I just wanted to share that despite everything, I was able to have a successful pregnancy. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞

Thank ye both for the replys. They are so resssuring. I am actually on Vitex (agnus castus), this month for my progesterone and it worked. Ha. I really hope this will be our turn soon. Thanks.
