Congenital uterine abnormality support thread

Hi everyone. I wanted to start a thread for those of us with congenital uterine abnormalities. Everything I see when I online is doom and gloom, but plenty of people get to term with these conditions and a bit of extra monitoring. So if you have bicornate, unicornate, didelphic, septate, arcuate, or any other CUA which I haven't heard of let's support each other. I am 10 weeks and have a dip on the top of my uterus but they haven't classified the scale yet (arcuate or bicornate). I will be seeing the EPU soon and am trying to keep myself positive. ❤

Hey, I have a bicornuate uterus and I’m on my second pregnancy (v early). It caused some bleeding in my first but no other issues 😊

edit to add I was consultant led and had growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks. Has a failed induction ending in emergency section at 42 weeks, I don’t believe that was related but I never specifically asked.

@Sa11yCinnamon great username. I love that song.

That's reassuring, I am glad it worked out so well for you and I hope it does this time too. It is so scary hearing the word abnormality.

@Howeverfar no one ever used the word abnormality with me, I was advised not to google (which of course I did anyway) but other than that everything was always very positive 😊 I hope it doesn't bring too much additional stress to your pregnancy x

Thankyou so much. I haven't had my EPU appointment yet and I do feel quite anxious. Found out at the weekend my SIL is pregnant and due same time as me but thankfully all is plain sailing for her. It would be so nice to have babies together but I can't really look forward to that because it all feels so uncertain.

Honestly please try not to worry.

I actually just looked back on whatsapp messages this morning as I'm 6 weeks today and it was 6+5 in my last pregnancy when I found out. Two people I told said that they had friends who had the same and they also had smooth pregnancies, one had to have a section as her breech baby couldn't be turned.

I have a bicornuate uterus, I’m on pregnancy number 2. My last pregnancy was totally normal, but got extra scans to check cervical length which was always fine. Had her at 40+2. I’m now 30 weeks with this pregnancy and have liked having the extra monitoring, but again no issues at all so far!

I have bicornuate uterus and 3 healthy children. Discovered during routine scans in pregnancy no1. For me it meant that none of them turned head down as not enough space, so c-sections for all 3. Had one miscarriage too at about 15 wks between them. Consultant led with all and more scans to check all ok.
