Maternity clothes

I am very early pregnant through IVF 2nd round (6+2) due in November and wondered where everyone found the best place to buy maternity clothes?

I am not showing yet but want to start browsing clothes for events in the summer like races, weddings etc ☺️

I have never used vinted, EBay or FB selling so wouldn’t know where to start!

Any help would be ace 😍

Seraphine used to be good for maternity occasion-wear but they've closed down so you could look for pieces from their on Vinted etc l.

Vinted bundles all the way for me. It’s not just the cost, it’s also knowing I’m only going to be wearing clothes for 5-6 months so it seems best to buy secondhand and then pass on.

I second vinted bundles. I couldnt find any good stuff online nd when I did it was expensive. I got all my holidays clothes from there and stretchy trousers ni lived in leggings for first 5 months. Even shein the prices added up. So I just used vinted for bundles. Or got bigger sizes e.g. im usually a 8-10 but got 12-14 dresses. Though now im holiday, the dresses do feel tight but I am now nearly 30 weeks 😅

My mum bought me the most absolutely hideous dress from Tiffany Rose. It did look nice on the website but was horrid (but well made) in real life. The Frugi dresses she bought were much nicer. I had a seasalt dress Chappelle dress that was really good for breast feeding and doesn't scream maternity, plus was cotton so good for the hormonal sweats. Apparently postpartum shares a lot of clothing needs with menopause. Otherwise mine were mostly h&m from vinted. Ihad a lovely pair of h&m floral supportive yoga leggings which i wore almost continously both before and after birth. Quality isn't exactly important, so most stuff isn't well made.

Vinted is excellent for nice branded maternity wear that’s costs a fortune brand new. I also ordered a lot of work outfits from Shein that did the job and didn’t break the bank. I did buy some maternity leggings from New Look that I lived in the full 9 months.

I used h and m online for basics

Tbh you don’t need much. If you’re not due until November then unlikely full summer stuff needed.
I would say you can generally just wear own clothes the first 30 weeks.

And for me I mainly bought 2 pairs maternity jeans and 2 pairs tights. Plus a few tops. The rest I just wore own clothing.
h and m vest breastfeeding vests I used a lot afterwards

Vinted and after asking a woman where her maternity jeans were from the other week… SHEIN!

I’ve never shopped there before but managed to get some really lovely cheap maternity stuff that fits properly

I’m 27 weeks and still pretttty much fitting into my clothes (though my two comfiest pairs of trousers have elasticated waist.) I am very much hoping the weather turns as I have a few Toast dresses (vinted have lots of second hand!) who make their clothes awfully voluminous but am hoping they’ll double up as maternity wear. Can’t stand most tights and leggings (just a disgust for certain feelings and fabrics) which isnt helpful. Would love to try some stuff from beyond 9 (meant to work beyond pregnancy) but it’s v expensive and they charge both for postage and returns yet their sizing is apparently all over the place which is annoying to be out of pocket for.

id size up on things you already like, buy the things second hand and then you can sell on without them actually depreciating in value if you take care of them!

If moneys no object then have a look at toast for loose and comfy fits that are very sell-onable. And if you can stay away from buying new from shein which I can’t help but feel is the ultimate fast fashion blight on the environment.

most importantly, congratulations!!

Seraphine is still available through Next and they're great for occasion wear. JoJo Maman Bébé is also available through Next for nice stuff, I got some Christmas dresses there.

Hoplittlesbunnieshophophop · 31/03/2026 17:47

Vinted all the way

For occasions I have had a couple of dresses from Hope & Ivy. Either via asos or vinted

Congratulations! If it’s your first pregnancy I’d caution against buying too much as you don’t know what your body will do. I’ve got three children and only ever bought one specific maternity item, which was a pair of jeans. With my first, I wore one of my normal dresses (with waist tie loose) to a wedding the day before he was born, so you may well be in normal dresses this summer!
