Due 25th April - Conception date help?

Hi there,

I am due April 25th just wondering if anyone can help me figure out when I conceived. I had two sexual encounters - one of which was a very difficult situation.

Here are my detail:

LMP 19 July - cycles were irregular since coming off the pill, I was having super short cycles but I think I was still ovulating at normal times due to CM

Intercourse was 21st July and 2nd/3rd/4th August

I had negative pregnancy tests 5th and 11th August

Faint but clear positive 18th August

Ultrasound measured 12w4d on October 15 which lined up exactly to my LMP

I’m going to be DNA testing after birth, and I’m very supported by my family. Obviously not ideal situation but I’m just wondering if anyone can give me any ideas as the encounters were 2 weeks apart.

Based on when you tested negative I would say it’s highly likely to be the later encounter(s). Hope
you’re ok x

I have no idea OP but hope you're ok, didn't want to read and run. It sounds very difficult, hope you've got support. Maybe there is a charity that could offer advice?

Hope you’re ok OP!

it your lmp started 19 July it’s unlikely you got pregnant from the sex on 21st as that’s cycle day 2 and you were probably still on your period.

I'm due a week before you and my conception date is roughly 24th July with positive pregnancy test on 8th August so I think you can rule out 21st July and I would say you conceived 2nd/3rd/4th August time. I hope that is what you wanted but 100% get that DNA test done even if it's to put everyone's minds at ease.

Did your ultrasound scans give measurements which match up correctly with the size expected with due date calculated from LMP? If so the father is someone you had sex with around 2nd August give or take a couple of days. There is very little chance of it having been 21st July - if it waa then your first ultrasound would have shown the baby being significantly larger than expected. The negative pg tests are pretty much irrelevant - there wouldn't have been enough hormones in your bloodstream to trigger a positive test until around 16th August.

However if one of these sexual encounters was a rape or otherwise traumatic situation you have no obligation to involve genetic testing etc. You can protect your child from having a man involved who will not be good for them to know.

@CandyEnclosingInvisible thanks for your response! Yes my LMP due date and ultrasound due date matched exactly - e.g the ultrasound measurements matched to LMP dating exactly. My first scan was 12 weeks, is this still reliable?
The negative tests I was thinking would’ve been positive if I got pregnant from the 21st?

Thanks again - tricky situation I know, I have no contact with July. So I guess I just wanna know which one caused it.

If your cycle was really messed up, which is possible, then sperm from 21st July might possibly survive in your body for 2-3 days so could have caused a pregnancy if you ovulated around day 5 of your cycle which would be unusually early (on average we tend to ovulate some time around day 12-15 but its not impossible ). But if that had happened your 12 week baby scan would have found differences in measurements consistent with a 13+ week pregnancy rather than 12 weeks. None of this is 100% certain but it is very very likely to be from the August times - if you'll forgive the indelicate suggestion, your mention of intercourse on 2nd/3rd/4th August suggests (assuming that you mean "and" not "or" and that this was consensual) you may have had an elevated libido at that time which is consistent with ovulating around then too

Only a dna test can tell you for sure but it’s very unlikely your hormone balance would be able to ovulate a couple days in to your cycle and sustain a pregnancy at that point!

@sleepykt Oh I didn’t realise that was a thing! I also had negative pregnancy tests 15 and 21 days after that encounter so I always just felt it didn’t cause the pregnancy I guess, but yes dna testing will be conclusive. Thanks for your input !
