Hi all,

So abit of back history, back in 2020 I had a MMC and then an Ectopic which resulted in my right tube being removed, I then went on to have my beautiful daughter who is now 3. I found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago and had an early scan but measured a week behind and all that was seen was a gestational sack, nothing else.
Fast forward two weeks to today I had my rescan and there was a beautiful little baby with a heartbeat, after the scan the consultant prescribed me Cyclogest 400mg pressures twice a day and also anti sickness tablets aswell.
Ive been reading up and the side effects from the progesterone tablets are that people started having bad cramps and spotting while on them, my anxiety is through the roof anyways and I’m just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation that could offer some insight?
obviously I’ll give them a go as every little thing that’ll help I’ll try as I don’t want anything to go wrong.

Thank you all and sorry for the long message xx

Take them rectally- I’ve never had bleeding doing that.

I second using them rectally . I have been doing this since 4 weeks, currently 14 weeks, and no issues with them. I was concerned about problems with irritation and spotting if I used them vaginally.

Some women can have cramping yes but its temporary but in all honesty pregnancy will do that to you anyway due to the uterus growing and expanding .
I take mine vaginally and dont have an concerns with using it. I dont feel any difference. I haven't had any spotting on them. Shortly after putting a pessary in you will have some leakage as your body doesnt absorb the casing . Just bear that in mind

Another vote for rectally. Progesterone insertion CAN irritate the cervix and cause spotting, but the cervix is already extra sensitive because of all of the general hormones so you can have spotting whilst being on progesterone or not. Spotting can also be entirely unrelated to progesterone even if you are on it! Wishing you so much luck with your pregnancy xxx

Thank you everyone, I’ve been using them vaginally and so far I’ve not had any awful side effects.
my stomach has been abit achy and crampy but I’m trying not to over think it. It’s hard though, when I had the MMC I had a scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat and then a few weeks later I was told they stopped growing at 6 weeks 1 day, so even though I’ve seen the heartbeat at 7 weeks my brain won’t switch off. My pregnancy with my daughter was filled with anxiety but I guess I have to trust my body to know what it’s doing! X
