I pregnant with my second dc, 17 weeks and still not felt any baby movements. I am begining to worry as all my pregnant friends felt their baby's move from 14 weeks or so.

Anyone felt late movements with their second preganacy?

I'm 22 weeks with second dc, and have only just started to feel movements. And, even then, I have to be sitting still and really concentrating to feel anything. I asked obstetrician about it at 20 weeks, and she said not to worry. Huge variation, I think.

I didn't feel movement in any of my 3 pgs until well past 20 wks. Maybe just a much quieter baby on that front (my brother was apparently - had to be poked for any reaction, even late on). If it's causing you concern, speak to your mw and hopefully she will put your mind at rest. Good luck!

I felt ds1 at 17 weeks, but didn't feel ds2 until 22 weeks. Partly because of where the placenta was and, I think, because I was moving around so much more looking after ds1 that I didn't get time to give ds2 a second thought.

Thank you for replies. I feel much better now

I didn't feel my 1st DC until 22 weeks, and my 2nd was nearly 20 weeks I think, so I wouldn't worry.

Felt this one (3rd) at 15 weeks though - it just seemed so early for me as the others had been so late

Hi,

Im 17 weeks and havent felt baby move either...............! Got myself all worked up too but people tell me its normal. A lot of babies are active when you're asleep because you're still. Many sleep during the day because your movements lull them to sleep (so i've been told!)

pinkspottywellies · 18/06/2008 16:10

Only had one pregnancy but didn't feel anything until about 22 weeks. People kept telling me I probably wouldn't recognise it at first but there was nothing - I was on high alert for any of the feeling that people describe!

I phoned the hospital for advice and they said to have a really really cold drink (whole glass of ice topped up with water) and lie quietly for a while, and sure enough I felt it!

My placenta was on the front so I think perhaps this made a difference as she wasn't kicking directly onto me IYSWIM, but through the placenta.

Sorry if I've repeated anything. Only read the OP.

I am 16 weeks and haven't felt anything. I didn't feel anything till 22-23 weeks with my first one. Who are the sensitive 14 week feelers? When I felt it first last time, it was unmistakeable, so I don't know what they're up to before then. I wasn't one of those people who went, 'oh THAT, that's the BABY?'.

14 weeks is extremely early. It could be wind Agree with all the comments on the placenta - I am sure you will feel those kicks soon!

Hi StarlightMcKenzie - I don't know where my placenta is, i will go through my notes and check. I hope its Anterior as everyone says, you feel the movements later.

slinkiemalinki · 18/06/2008 17:07

Even if it isn't anterior Ash, not feeling it yet is totally normal!

Ash80 · 18/06/2008 17:19

Ok, i shall try and relax about it.....

Just wish i felt a wee kick or even a flutter

"EBenes: Did you cope well in labour? "

Wow, that'd be nice! I can't tell as had to have c-s for medical reasons and will this time. But hope for you that's true!

Dragonhart · 18/06/2008 19:57

I had the same Ash, with my dd2, I didnt feel any movements til 20+ weeks, then found out at my 20wk scan that placenta anterior. I am 30wk preg with dc3 and I felt movememtns really early then found out that it was posterior.

I remember how hard it was waiting and waiting for the kicks, but sure you will soon be wishing it would keep still especially at night!

Twelvelegs · 18/06/2008 20:02

I'm always late with mine, at 19 weeks I could not tell you if my baby moves or not!! I have felt the odd movement but that's when I've not been expecting it and by the time I notice it's gone!

babylove123 · 19/06/2008 10:37

Once i'd posted on this thread i got my first kick! Honestly, i didnt think it was a kick, its completely easy to not think anything of it. Infact i thought it was a muscle spasm so i just shrugged it off. I only know it was a kick because i rang my midwife because i've been having a sore bump and i explained what i'd felt when these "spasms" happened and she said "uh no, thats it, thats a kick". I was like "oh, really?". Dont get me wrong, now i know what it is it is nice to feel it but seriously, you could easily be feeling it and not knowing what it is! I didnt!

Twelvelegs · 19/06/2008 11:54

MMM, my kicks have never felt like spasms, certainly not painful.... I thought the spasms were stretching pains????

babylove123 · 20/06/2008 09:28

I dunno, i guess everyone is different. I explained what i was feeling to the midwife and she was adamant it was the baby kicking. Infact when it happens i can put my hand on it and feel it. Mother nature is strange!!!! lol
