Hello! Just after some advice

Currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant with an ivf pregnancy. Everything was fine up until Tuesday where I experienced a huge bleed with clotting and cramping.

Had a scan yesterday where the EPU nurse said this pregnancy is not going to be viable with life in her opinion, and that I’m likely to experience a miscarriage this week. This is because of a large Subchronic Hemmorhage which is impacting the gestational sack. She said to come back next week for a scan where a miscarriage will most likely be confirmed. I asked her if there is any chance this pregnancy has viability and she said ‘I wouldn’t say so’. Obviously I’m devastated.

However, I spoke with my IVF team and sent them pictures of my scan. They said they felt the epu nurse has been overly negative and they wouldn’t say there is an almost definite miscarriage this early on in the pregnancy just a high risk, they said my gestational sack looks appropriate for this stage of pregnancy and that the yolk sack looks healthy.

obviously now very confused to be in this limbo - anyone got an experience? I know sch are common in IVF

Oh my goodness, this sounds so stressful and upsetting. I’m sorry. I think you should listen to the IVF clinic and try not to panic. Do you have another scan booked for soon? hopefully ivf clinic could see you next week for some reassurance?
sorry not to be more helpful but hopefully this bumps your post.

@CannaeBelieveIt thank you for your reply.

yes, I think I’m going too. I’m preparing myself for the worst but having a glimmer of hope that our clinic gave us otherwise I’ll just be miserable.

i just wish this woman’s bedside manner was better, she’s even put in the report ‘can’t call it a miscarriage yet’ so I don’t understand the total write off in person.

I’ve done a lot of googling and it seems sch are quite common, especially in ivf and lots of women go on to have healthy pregnancies. Of course some don’t but at least we know the reasons why if I do miscarry
