Anyone with preeclampsia discharged before delivery with close monitoring

As above. 34 weeks and had been feeling great bar the dreaded third trimester sausage ankles. In for a check up today to find out I have sky high blood pressure and proteins in urine. Baby is super - dancing up a storm on my diaphragm and head butting my bladder. I’ve been admitted with preeclampsia for monitoring and told I’ll be here until delivery. Sob!

Dr Google tells me that in some cases, women may be allowed home where condition stabilises, subject to close monitoring. Has this happened for any MNer - could I feel the wind on my face again before April - or is AI trying to make me feel better?

If they can stabilise you with medication then you could be discharged, but if they’re saying you’re staying until delivery I’d just get comfy and try to relax the best you can.

I was diagnosed at 33 weeks - was admitted then I told them I was going home after a couple of days. The reason - they were literally just monitoring me no meds etc so I told them I could do that at home! Luckily they agreed and we moved to me going in 3 times a week to the ward for bloods/scan/heart tracing and a midwife came to the house on the other days to do basic checks. My bp was always lower at home than in the hospital! At 36 weeks they decided baby would be ok to be born and the risk was becoming too great so delivered her by C-section. The worst hit I can vividly remember is the meds they gave me in theatre to bring my bp down before they started the C-section - they made me throw up 🤮

It depends on lots of factors ie. how high your protein is, how high your BP is, whether they achieve and maintain good BP control, how much medication you're on, if you're symptomatic of PET, how scans and CTGs look and how your bloods are. If everything under control then its possible to get home. The level of protein alone on urine PCR or 24hr urine collection (whichever your hospital use) could keep you in if it is high, regardless if everything else is normal. It'll likely take a few days to ascertain all of this. Every case is very different. Hoping everything works out well for you and you do get home soon!

Thanks so much, everyone. Looks like I’m staying put but there may be a bit of day release.
