I’m so sorry to hear about your previous loss.

My colleague’s sister had the cervical stitch after two late losses at 22 and 24 weeks. She now has a beautiful baby girl after receiving the stitch in her last pregnancy, so I hope this will give you a bit of peace of mind. I think she had the stitch at 16 weeks.

I haven’t been in the same situation, I have had two miscarriages, one at just over 12 weeks which was a very bad one and left me hospitalised for almost a week, so I understand the anxiety in a pregnancy after loss! It’s so hard to not think of anything else. I thought my cervix may have been the issue at the time. I wasn’t able to relax in my last pregnancy at all until after 25 weeks, when I started to relax more and really enjoy my pregnancy. I was also on pelvic rest for my last pregnancy. How many weeks are you now?

If the anxiety continues though and you find it’s affecting you, please speak your midwife as she may be able to help too. Sending you all the best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy 😊🌈

Also there’s another current thread on here that I’ve just found that you might find helpful too :)

I had a similar background. Loss at 20 weeks, then had my daughter at 24w5days despite cervical stitch.

after my daughter I was strongly advised to have a trans abdominal stitch (similar to cervical one, but higher up). My insurance co suggested this is possible when pregnant, might be worth enquiring as my transabdomibal stitch held beautifully until I had an elective c section at 37w (recommended due to my history).

Are you on progesterone? in your shoes i’d be pushing for weekly scans to monitor length of cervix. They’re unlikely to agree, but my hospital did do bi-weekly scans to monitor length for those that fell under the “pre term birth” category.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I am only here because of a successful stitch my Mum had in the 70s. To this day, I can still hear how difficult that pregnancy was for her - as she just didn’t believe there would be a successful outcome. But there was. I hope that you can take some comfort from that.

@VerbenaGirl thank you so much for your heart warming words it truly means a lot.. it’s hard nobody understands and I mean NOBODY except for this wider community who always is here to give advice ♥️

I was very lucky in that UCLH which has an amazing NICU is my local hosp.

To look at her you’d never know. She does have a small heart defect which needs to be monitored and her lungs are slightly weaker in that she can’t shake off respiratory infections term kids would. She is doing really well, so well that people are often surprised at how early she was.

not sure if anyone has said to you but we were told 28 weeks in the “magic week” as that is when lungs fully developed. My daughter and some friends who also had 24w twins have shown that these babies are tough and can still thrive much earlier.

i really hope the stitch holds. I’m sorry to be negative, but do keep an eye out for any dodgy looking discharge as with my cervical stitch about two weeks in (A day or so before I delivered), I noticed dodgy looking yellow discharge. Transpired my placenta was infected And both baby and I had sepsis (temp was 40 degrees during much of my labour, I remember having rigours. Was complete chaos). In my case, the infection wasn’t entirely unexpected because when my stitch was placed, the membranes were already bulging through an open cervix.

Wanted to end on a positive note and say that the fact that your surgeon has confirmed your cervix was closed and also a good Length is very very positive. Just make sure they keep monitoring you.

@mummytrex thank you so much for explaining.. yes so today I went hospital due to pain and they checked me cervix was closed but they suspect thrush so they took a swab and sent it off and I’m waiting on that now.. also I asked and my CL is 3cm and they said for 14 weeks that’s healthy… I’m hoping it stays I think my anxiety makes my pains worse as I suffer with mental health after my 2 baby’s passed one was 4 days old in 2021 in and the other was 21 week pregnancy loss due to cord prolapse… no your not negative at all I prefer honest story’s so I know what to expect either way .. I had yellow discharge when my cord prolapse happen it was thick and yellow.. but today when they examined me the speclum was full of white sorry if it’s TMI 🫣🫣 so they said it lookalike thrush I don’t want any sort of infection as I have heard so many bad story’s with infection 😞

im so glad ur baby is doing great that gives me more hope that a 24 weeker is thriving! I hope she stays healthy and happy always… ♥️
