3rd c section? Experiences?

Hi,

I am pregnant with my third. I had a baby in 2021 by c section after a failed induction, I then had another c section in 2024 after a very long labour, baby being back to back and ‘not progressing’ and now I’m pregnant again. The surgeon told me he was glad I’d agreed to a c section as my scar was ‘thin and fragile’ and likely would have led to a rupture had I laboured for much longer.

I really don’t want a third c section but I know that realistically, it’s not a particularly favourable statistic to attempt a VBA2C.

I have resigned myself to the fact that the safest thing to do will be a c section.

I can’t say it fills me with joy however. How was it for you?

Thanks in advance if you can offer any wisdom or insight.

I've had 3 and the third was the easiest as no labor. The first two were emergencies so quite scary experiences. The third was also the easiest to recover from even though I was nearly 10 years older.
My DC are all grown up now and although it seemed like a big thing at the time I rarely think about it now. The main thing is that you and your baby are looked after.

Same for me @IsItAllMenopause

Why worry about a third c section when it’s the safest course for you and the baby, OP? Just be thankful there’s that option, knowing what the outcome was for women who couldn’t deliver naturally back in the day.

I’ve had 4, none by choice but after the second I had no choice. Most recent was 3 months ago and none of the doctors were concerned about it being #4. Recovery from 3rd was straightforward although I had an epidural and spinal block as they expected to need to remove scar tissue.
