Feeling heavy/swollen down below and increased frequency of urination 24 weeks pregnant

Hi I’m 24 weeks pregnant. My 1st is only 14 months old so got pregnant quite quickly. My first birth was quite difficult due to failed induction, unsuccessful pushing as baby lying sideways so forceps and then her shoulder got stuck.
i was bothered by piles during and post pregnancy last time and my pelvic floor required some work post partum but this improved and I was back to exercising and running with no issues.

More recently in this pregnancy I feel I need to pee almost constantly and feel a real heaviness below especially after sex. When I look I can’t see any obvious sign off a prolapse but my vagina does seem to be generally swollen and lower. I am suffering with piles this pregnancy too.

does this sound normal for a second pregnancy, especially so soon after a traumatic birth?

thank you.

Hey @NAJS17 sorry you’ve not had a reply. Maybe people genuinely don’t know the answer/someone with similar experience hasn’t come along yet.

Im in a totally different situation, 1st preg and cervix issues (24 weeks). I’ve been told, given my issues, to watch out for heaviness and to let them know about it. Our situations are totally different so that probably doesn’t translate to yours, but why not call midwife and/or maternity hospital to run your symptoms by them. Def better to know there’s no issue than to worry that there is. Best of luck and sorry to hear about your first birth being so bad. I hope none of those experiences are repeated.

I would get checked out. It’s also possible it’s a UTI and you don’t want to leave those unchecked as can cause early labour.

Yes I would phone the maternity unit of your local hospital tomorrow and get it checked. It probably isn’t anything to worry about, but they would much rather see you than not and it become an issue. It will also put your mind at ease.
