Pain during pregnancy

I am 25 weeks now and I am having a few different types of pain, unsure if they are related or not. I spoke to a doctor at triage and a couple of my Midwives, they are unsure. They are putting it down to pelvic pain, been referred to physio but Midwife said it probably won’t help. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this specific type of pain?

  1. sciatica that spreads all down my leg, mainly right side.
  2. pelvic pain right at the front middle, like a heavy ache.
  3. left and right sided pain (only ever one sided at a time) lower abdomen area. Burning hot pain that spreads out a bit and even down my leg. Absolute agony, almost like a really bad bruised feeling with a hot poker going through me. I will say, I have had this pain before pregnancy but it only used to happen a couple of times a year, now it’s happening weekly. It affects me being able to move as it gets so severe.

Hi there
Congratulations 🎊 I'm 24 weeks so close enough haha

No 1 & no 2 I definitely had on my last pregnancy. I actually wore a support belt from probably 19 or 20 weeks pregnant last time around because the bump was putting so much pressure on my pelvis and I had sciatica. The belt definitely helped especially if I was going out for periods walking etc. When I was a little further on a midwife showed me how to tape my bump with kinesiology tape so it was constantly held up. Thankfully I haven't needed either this time yet.

No 3 sounds the worst for you though but I've never experienced, sorry. Could it be the baby balanced on a nerve or something?

@BudgetBuster that sounds interesting about the tape and bands. The thing is my bump isn’t even big at the moment. I have had this pain for the past couple of months. Walking around will result in me being in so much pain and then it will set off the pelvic pain even after I have rested. I don’t walk far, maybe around the shopping centre or supermarket but it’s getting harder. I wonder if it is all connected to one cause, hopefully the physio appt can help.

Yep, I had a tiny bump last time. Most people wouldn't know I was pregnant until about 35 or 36 weeks 😂 But the pain was horrendous.

I'm huge this time and no pain 😂

Are you hypermobile?
Get the physio to test your Beighton score because if you're hypermobile this explains why your pelvic pain is so bad.

Pain number 3 sounds like round ligament pain and it can pull all the way down into your groin. The other pain as well sounds exactly like PGP made worse by being hypermobile.

Bump size doesn't have anything to do with it, its because your body releases relaxin even in early pregnancy and it makes the joints that hold your pelvis together relax too much and its really painful. Progesterone is also a muscle relaxant.
