C sections 17 months apart... How far apart were yours?

Anyone had two c sections relatively close together? Please let me know how it went? Were the doctors concerned? How was your recovery?

I have an 8 month old son and recently found out I am pregnant again. He was born by elective c section at 42 weeks.

I haven't had my booking appointment yet or anything and I imagine I'm only a couple of weeks at the moment.

What was it like having two under two? Honesty please!

14 months and like pp last one was the easiest. My girls are the best of friends and always have been (in their 20s now).

Love this :) did you worry about the gap? (As in from a c section point of view?)

20 months. But my cousin had three in total the first two 13 months apart. All fine.

No I didn't worry about the gap and my obgyn was fine with it too - tbh my scar was better after the second one. But I did have a previous horrendous vaginal delivery with my first birth - so the c-sections were like a lovely walk in the park for me :)

That's amazing! :)

Was anyone concerned about the gap? I read that my maternity unit refers you to a consultant if you have had a previous c section so I'm hoping to speak to them soon 🤷🏼‍♀️.

How did you find looking after your other two with a newborn? I already have mum guilt towards my son that he won't have all my attention 😭

I was under a consultant automatically for my 2nd and 3rd because of some issues with my first pregnancy so I can't comment on that I'm afraid.

Nobody was concerned about the gap as such - I was quite firmly pushed into an elective section though, which was fine by me as I quite liked the idea of having a planned birth with two others at home to think about.

As for having 2 under 2... Honestly it's all a bit of a blur now. The hardest thing was when they were really little and both had completely different but equally demanding needs, so newborn wants to cluster feed but the older one is having a tantrum and trying to run away etc. Once they were both walking and on the same nap schedule it became a LOT easier.

They're 3 and 4 now and it's almost like having twins, they have the same interests, same size clothes, swimming lessons together etc. They have a really strong bond and it's so lovely to see them playing and laughing together. It's chaos at times, but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

Ah interesting! I think my midwife told me to wait a year ~ 18 months! But life happens I suppose 🫣 how did your ecls go? Was the recovery ok?

My obstetrician told me to wait 18m+ before trying to get pg, so ideally a 27 month gap between births, as there's an increased risk of uterine rupture, but that's on a statistical basis so may not be your individual risk.
I guess when you're actually pg they don't comment on it as it can't be undone at that point, and it works out OK for the majority so they just deal with the situation they have.

My friend had 18mths between them.
4 weeks after the second one her wound burst. She'd been lifting the 18mth old.
So be very careful. Listen to what you are told.

Didn’t want to read and run. 17 months between my two boys. Now aged 3 and a half, and just turned 2! I also had two elective c-sections and uncomplicated pregnancies so all fine there (apart from severe morning sickness). I was told after my second c-section I should have another c-section if I have a third (I won’t be!). In my experience the early days of 2U2 are much easier than right now - which NGL I am finding very challenging!! Congrats to you!

15 months between my first two, no issues whatsoever. Had 4 sections in 6 years.

Hi, I've just had my 3rd section and I'm already thinking about another soon due to my age (40). Can I ask - did they say anything after your 3rd about waiting, if uterus was thin etc? No one has said anything to me at all so I presume I'd be ok to have another?! Just worried as 4 sections is a lot really. My first two were 16/17 years ago though so it's been a big gap!

Hiya, no nobody said a thing and in fact when I had my 4th section the surgeon joked he would see me soon for no 5!

@PurpleLovecats thanks, that's very reassuring!
