Healthy pregnancy after severe pre-e?

Hi all,
With my first pregnancy I had severe pre-e that led to emergency c section at 25 weeks, it got as bad as it did mainly because there was very little monitoring done. My midwife either quit or had to go on leave they never really explained and they forgot to arrange a new one for at least 8 weeks(the span of time meant I missed two monitoring/urine test appointments) by the time my next appointment came around I already had symptoms and was hospitalised. I only knew I had pre-e because I was very familiar with the condition and knew my blood pressure was insanely high for my gestation and went to hospital accordingly. Because of this I have tried to convince myself that with proper management it wouldn't happen again and that it could be managed even if symptoms appeared, but due to how extreme it ended up being last time I am very nervous to try again. I was just looking to see if anyone who had experienced severe pre-e previously had gone on to have a subsequent, healthy normal pregnancy as it very much scares me have a micro-preemie again. I believe a contributing factor was that I was on my feet a lot and under a lot of stress and those things wouldn't happen next time as I would have a different job and things are less complicated now. So if things are managed properly are healthy pregnancies possible or should I expect pre-e to be an issue always going forward? p.s. I know everyone/pregnancy is different but it's just for a general idea of how realistic a normal pregnancy could be for me. 😊

My understanding is that if you have severe pre-eclampsia you are much more likely to have it again in future pregnancies. So while I agree that with management you'd hopefully get a bit further through your pregnancy, I think it's reasonable to work on the premise that you'll get it again and it would be a huge bonus if you didn't, rather than an expectation. Best of luck if you go again x

I had severe pre eclampsia in my first pregnancy , I was hospitalised on bed rest for the final four weeks and baby was born 5 weeks early .
on my second pregnancy I was put on junior aspirin and avoided pre eclampsia it’s supposed to really help . Wishing you the very best .

I has severe pre eclampsia and HELPP in my first pregnancy. It hadn’t been diagnosed and led to an emergency c section at 34 weeks and I was extremely poorly for 2 weeks after …my daughter was 3 pound 10 at birth and the docs estimated she hadn’t been growing for 2 weeks. We were both very lucky to be here.
Needless to say it took me a while to have my second ( 4 years) but I got to 39 weeks and a planned c section with no pre eclampsia…on day of delivery my blood pressure spiked and I had protein, my son was also on small side at 6 pounds 6 but all was well and I wasn’t poorly as in my first pregnancy
hope this helps x

I had severe preeclampsia with my first then HELPP for 8 weeks afterwards.
I was extremely poorly from 28 weeks but midwife told me I looked fab, I didn’t I looked like a swollen version of myself. Missed my 34 week appointment because of bank holiday and had an app at 35+6 got sent to hospital to monitor bp as I had a small amount of protein in my wee, got sent home and felt awful, drive myself to hospital the following day and I was very swiftly admitted and put on a magnesium drip, following day I had a emergency section.
the whole thing was very traumatic and afterwards don’t help either, I was so poorly.
anyway I’m now 25 weeks pregnant and take baby aspirin, my BP is slightly high when I go to appointments but at home is ok and I’m consultant lead. I’ve been told my chances of getting pre e again are very high but I get growth scans every 3 weeks from 28 weeks.
