Hi everyone so I’ve been told I’ve got gestational diabetes currently waiting to see the diabetes team which will be tomorrow but I’ve been told previously by the obstetrics team because of my circumstances eg baby’s belly measuring a bit big and the fact he’s always been breech that I may have to be induced if he goes head down or I can have a section. I’d like to know peoples opinions please

If you are struggling to decide, ask for an appointment with the consultant midwife, who can talk you through both options and help you make an informed decision.

This.

It’s really important to hear all the info, risks etc and make an informed decision. I can tell you I’ve had 2 babies, both have been inductions for different reasons, my first wasn’t a great experience and ended in an episiotomy & forceps delivery, my second was much more straightforward. My youngest is 3 months old and 2 of my friends have had babies since then, both inductions and both ended in emergency sections, one under GA due to the rush. I can honestly say that wasn’t a potential outcome that I had really given proper consideration to when I went for my inductions but I know both of my friends now say they wish they had just had a planned section.

You need to be assessed really before you make a decision, especially if this is your first baby. They can check your cervix/baby position and give you a Bishop score, from that they can usually tell you how likely it is that an induction would be successful.

Also go factor in that percentage of inductiond inductions in your circumstance end in c section anyways
