At my 34 week midwife check the fundal height showed my bump wasn’t growing like it should.

We therefore had a growth scan and they said baby looked normal. They couldn’t measure his head as he was so low down but using the other two measurements they plotted him as in the 22nd percentile. So smaller than average but still normal.

The x’s on the chart are my fundal height measurements and the circle one is my growth scan.

I am due to have my 36 week midwife check on Monday and honestly do not think my bump has grown yet again.

Has anybody had similar?

I know from the growth scan that baby’s head is very low and his body is quite curled up. The top of my bump is soft because he is curled up at the bottom.

Everyone hold weight and baby bumps differently, if you have a lot of space between your pelvis and your ribs there’s less need for the baby to go out as such. Plus the baby can just be lying more to the back.
The growth of the baby has been confirmed by a scan, so it doesn’t seem like there’s anything to worry about.

Has your midwife mentioned if you have a retroverted uterus?

Please don’t worry about how big or small your bump is. Everyone grows different size bumps. I hardly had any bump with my first, and once again I’m still very small bump wise.
I’ve had my midwife measure my bump the same size between two appointments, so had a growth scan and baby growing nicely on their line (about 25th percentile).

My first was born perfectly healthy on 25th percentile, having had a bump that measured off the scale small.

If the scans are ok, I wouldn’t worry about how big bump is.

My friend had to have extra scans and check ups because of concerns about growth- she was told she was going to have a tiny baby. Baby was born at 40 weeks weighing 7lb7 and all her tiny baby baby grows were too small!
My friend is tall and slim so just had a small bump because of her body shape.
Have your scans and checkups but don’t worry too much

My bump measurements were all over the place in my pregnancies, especially my second. I started off the chart big, then static growth, then apparently my bump shrank a cm according to the measurements. Every time I was sent for a growth scan and baby always plotted on the exact same centile and his growth was perfectly consistent despite my bump measurements. He was born on the 50th centile despite my initial bump measurement projecting he'd be over 10lbs! Like others have said a lot can depend on how baby is lying. My midwife used to say that bump measurements are notoriously inaccurate but they have to use something as a guide. Growth scans should hopefully reassure you if you do need one.
